What's your favourite Lennon song?
I like them all, but my favourite would have to be: Working class hero or whatever gets you through the night.
The best album has got to be: Shaved fish. It's got most of his best on it!

I would say Imagine, but if you consider a 'best-of' to be included as a 'best-album, I would sy the 1990 Lennon, which has a lot more than Shaved Fish.
Songs; Woman is the nigger .., Mother, Imagine, How do you sleep, WC Hero, Whatever gets you ..., Starting Over.

As a whole, I'll go for The Plastic Ono Band. Every song stands on it's own. Remember, God, Mother, Love, Working class Hero, although there is no Imagine in it, as far as a best collection, I go with this.

All of John's songs are good. "Imagine" is my choice for best song. As for best LP, it has to be Lennon Collection.
BTW, Pie Man, this topic really should be in the Songs and Albums Forum. Either Harb or Penny can move it over there.

I have to second Plastic Ono Band as being my fav. Mother especially hits home for me (I was adopted). Second in running is God.

The best album would have to be Imagine, and the best song is Cold Turkey! But nothing can beat Jealous Guy and Imagine!

My favorite is for SURE, "Across The Universe"! I love it so much! Even though it was a Beatles song, it was a john song. As for his solo stuff, my fav is "Oh My Love".

Love and Jealous Guy are the two best non-Beatles songs ever, even better than the classic Imagin. Plastic Ono Band is the best non-Beatles album ever. He couldn't match the quality of Beatles without Paul.
Lennon/McCartney is what made them so great, they couldn't have done it individually.Paul's early solo stuff is as good as John's.

Imagine was just pure luck. My fave song has to be Grow Old With Me. The version on Milk and Honey was the last recording John did before he passed.
Also my fave Lennon Beatle song is Girl. No one can inhale like John.

My favourite song would have to be "Imagine" just because it has meant so much to people: it says a lot about the era, if someone tried to write something like that now, there's no way it would seem as meaningful! So, just because it stands as a definitive last word on the sixties ethos i'd choose it.
favourite album would have to be "Plastic Ono Band", it was brave after the lush sound of "Abbey Road" to switch to such extremes, and the lean stripped down sound pre-dates a lot of the new wave music of the late seventies.
