One of George's "instrumentals"
Don't you think that George is having just a great time here?
It sounds to me this is just a sort of studio jam, where he did not find it appropriate to add vocals to, apart from the Python-ish which are there.
Many guitars appear here and one electric guitar and a dobro which he had not used for a long time, lead the cheery tune, which also quite some keyboards but to me they are not in the way...they are there at the right place..sometimes showing up as lead between themes
It is such a cheerful tune, you guys play it a lot? It is so nice to hear a happy George here

ALMOST an "instrumental"...

I've always liked this little piece of music and now that I know the lyrics I like it even more! :wink1:
I think it shows well the "other" side of George (if you like), doing fun songs and fooling around. Another good examples that come to mind are "His Name Is Legs" and "It's Johnny's Birthday".

Thanks BB! :smile1:
And thanks to darkhorse for these lyrics:
Yugo To Slavia,
Half Past Albania,
Down And Towards The Med.
Left Side Of Turkey,
Nowhere Near Fiji,
You Will Find Greece.
You May Athena,
Handed On A Plato,
Hole In My Socrates.
I Came Acropolis
On Monty Pythogoras,
Ulysses Greece

Greece is great, and Gone Troppo is one of my favorite albums, it is a happy sounding album, I think George must have been in a very happy place in his life when putting this album together... :teeth1:

I used to listen to Gone Troppo a lot, but I don't seem to listen to it too much these days. Not sure why. Now that summer is on the way I should listen to it more. Very summery, uplifting album. Greece is a great 'song.' I'm not usually over fond of instrumentals, but this one is cute and fun to listen to.

George was a master of upbeat, easy listening and pleasant music and Gone Troppo underscores that point so well.

I love it. It would have really livened up The White Album :eyebrows:

It would have indeed livened up that "White Album."
