Well? Does anyone own a Beatles record(s) that they would consider rare and valuable? To start things off, here's my little list...
-A gold label Please Please Me.
-A Mono White Album. Actually, I've got 2 copies of this. (Everybody bought STEREO versions.)
-A polydor single of Tony Sheridan with the Beatles - Ain't She Sweet.
-A Polydor EP of Tony Sheridan with the Beatles - My Bonnie, Cry For A Shadow, Why, Ain't She Sweet (I think that is whats on it.)
Your turn. Does anybody have a butcher cover or something?

Don't knock singles. If you had the complete set they would be worth quite a bit of money!
Me and Bearkat77 were discussing the album Intoducing the Beatles yesterday. A great place to find out whether your copy is a couterfeit or not, and the value is: www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/beatles/intro/intro.html (http://www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/intro/intro.html)

Where does everyone find old singles? I got lucky at a rumage sale, but how else can one obtain singles and rare LPs? I would like to get my hands on a few singles. I don't have too much money to spend (the typical problem of a teenager! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif) Are there any relatively cheap singles?

The best place I think to pick up singles would be at car-boot sales. I think Americans call them Swap Meets. Garage sales are also quite good places as it's where people just want go get rid of the 'junk' in their attics. I can usually pick up a beatles single for about $1 (55p) and an original album for about $11 (£5).
Can I just say well done Penny for that fantastic find. Was it a stereo or a mono?

Origfan I agree with you. I talked to a dealer at a show about my 45's with picture jackets and they seem to be worth about $25.00 each. I only payed 79 cents for them back in the stone age but they're invaluable to me. The albums are worth less. Mine are all severely worn anyway. But they're my originals which are more valuable to me than anyone else.

Penny, I got my singles from my mom, and this Beatles store near me sells them. They are used copies that people didn't want anymore, can you believe that! I got them for $1-$5. You can also try Thirft Shops. I got a Mamas and the Papas record for $.99 cents

Harb, you originally asked if we owned any recordings we'd consider valuable, right? Well, I have all the original U.S. vinyls, but I don't consider them rare. As for the singles, I bought everything I could lay hands on at the time, but I don't think they're considered rare, either. Millions of copies were purchased along with mine, so how valuable could they be? In any case, I refuse to part with anything relating to the Beatles. I'll leave all my mementos to my children, God willing.

In England, the rarest officially released LP is the stereo version of Please Please Me with the Gold label. (Worh abour £1,250). The rarest single is Please Please Me on the red label.
In America, the rarest LP is Introducing the Beatles, Stereo with the column back sleeve, and Love Me Do, PS I Love you on it. There's only about 10 in existance of this record, but millions of counterfeits.
The rarest record I got is the gold label PPM, but it's mono and badly worn. Still worth £100 though!

I have Introducing the Beatles on Vee Jay with the column back, and VJ in brackets. On the center the record has a rainbow circle around the song listing and Vee Jay is circled. VJLP1062.
I also have Introducing The Beatles with Ask Me Why and Please Please Me. The only difference is the VJ on the record is in brackets, not circled. Otherwise the same as above. Are they worth anything? They are not stereo.

I just bought the following album...
It's Beatles For Sale, but has a different label to the English version. It's got the same label as the Golf on Black PPM label, but it's got silver type and a navy blue background. It's catalogue number is PMCJ 1230 It isn't Australian. Does anyone know which country it's from? I have a sneaking suspicion that it's African.

It wouldn't be worth much today because it was only released about 10-15 years ago, but if you keep it in the condition it's in now, it will become a rarity in the future.

I got most of my albums from thrift stores I went to for Beatles antiques. I'm still searching! i also go to Ebay and check out the rare Beatles records. That's where I got my Red album I think. 2)'This One' single and cassette single signed by Paul.
3)Original photographs from the recording of the 'Stranglehold' video (Press to Play).

Vinyl is simply a record. It's that black stuff the record is pressed onto.
And I wouldn't class that John and Yoko pic rare. I have it too, on the CD of the album that it was printed on.

I did some research, but all I could find that there were a few unique to Australia compilations but non with that title. Most well know being "The esential Beatles".
I recently bought some Japanese vinyl. An early 70's pressing of "Rubber Soul" and later pressing,1978 or so, of "A Hard Days Night". I also bought the MFSL "Beatles for sale". While not super rare they are more dificult to find. All three are in good condition and sound really good.

It sounds like a bootleg judging by the record label, but it can't tell for sure.
I have five Butcher covers, three third states in mono, one third state in stereo, and one second state in mono. An original mono copy of "The Beatles Second Album" with the times missing on "Long Tall Sally" and "I Call Your Name;" however, due to the condition, mines is probably not worth very much. Also, a copy of "Beatles VI" with the songs out of order on the cover. (not very rare actually)

I don't know how rare they are, but I have their three original Canadian Capitol LP releases, before Capitol in the US got interested in the Beatles --- I also have the big glossy booklet that originally came with LET IT BE --- and I have a bunch of old Beatles bubble gum cards from 1964 --- it doesnt really matter about their monetary value though, because I'd never sell stuff like that anyway

Hey, Harb.... can't believe I missed this one for this long!
I would say my rarest Beatles LP is my Capitol "Meet The Beatles" 1st label (ASCAP and BMI missing from the labels) stereo version. The jacket has an original Sears-Robuck baggy wrap on it, making it even more unique.
I've got a bunch of other fairly rare LP's, as well... but the above is the crown jewel of my Beatles vinyl collection.

I have a rainbow label Capitol mono Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with cut-outs sheet but with only a plain white dust sleeve (no pink psychedelic stuff on it). It's in pretty good shape as far as sound, and I bought it for about 50 U.S. dollars a few years ago. I guess that qualifies as a little on the rare and valuable side.

It would be REALLY valuable if track two side 1 reads "With A Little Help From My Friends".
Oddly, the correctly-titled version is way rare. Apparently, most mono copies had the incorrect title ("A Little Help From My Friends")... and by the time Capitol corrected the error, mono was being phased-out. So there are more incorrect versions than correct. :cross2:

I recently purchased a With the Beatles album on Odeon in stereo. I presume it's an original, but I was a bit skeptic because the cover is very shiny and slick. But that may not necessarily mean anything. But I couldn't find any info for a later release of it. Does anyone have any more info concerning these Odeon releases?
