I have been reading this rumour on the web for weeks.....now it is not a rumour anymore. From todays (fri.) 'USA Today':
"Queen Will Rock You: Rock legends 'Queen' will tour next year for the first time since the death of frontman Freddie Mercury. Guitarist Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company) will replace Mercury, who died of AIDS in 1991. Details of the tour are being worked out."
I read on pollstar that the tour will start in Europ
e in the spring and hit the U.S. in the fall.

I am kind of mad about this, but I can see the arguments on the other side, too... The thing is, John Deacon is never going to be involved on this (he's retired) and Freddie Mercury is not involved either (obviously). This is 1/2 of Queen. May and Taylor can tour, of course, but shouldn't they do it as... you know... "May & Taylor" or something, like "Page & Plant" did, instead of Led Zeppelin? I think they just shouldn't use the legendary name. But it's possibly just me so I'm going to accept the arguments against this position.
But how would we feel if Paul and Ringo started touring as "The Beatles"?

Ick. I hate those half-baked reunion tours.

John Deacon has said he will do it but still without Freddie they are not Queen.

Nope, it's just Roger and Brian. I'm a huge Queen fan but I'm not going to see this, nor will I pick up any CDs/DVDs they release from these concerts. It's kind of like The New Doors...the only band member people actually knew about is dead, and the others need money so...

A little bit irrelevent to this thread, sorry. But Im just thankful to hear that John Deacon is alive and well...my mom and I were under the impression that he had passed away...
As for how I feel about the reunion, I am also saddened. I love Bad Company and all...but Paul Rogers is no Freddy Mercury. No one is. This bothers me some. My #1 favorite band (INXS) singer passed some years ago...and now they are doing a reality series show to get a new singer. why do bands do this? Why cant they leave the memory as it once was? Its almost disrespectful to me...

For me they could have still have been Queen if they had done something like this earlier on. John Deacon, Brian May, Roger Taylor & whoever as singer. It still could have been viable as Queen. Now way too much time has passed for us to accept this supergroup as Queen.

This is one case where the show must NOT go on.
