I love this song. The lyrics are fantastic. And the melody is really good too.

"welcome to the real world"
she said to me condescendingly
"take a seat, take your life
plot it out in black and white"

well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
and the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
is still hiding up my sleeve

they love to tell you "stay inside the lines"
but something's better on the other side

I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

so the good boys and girls take the so-called right track
faded white hats grabbing credits, maybe transfers
they read all the books but they can't find the answers
all of our parents, they're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
while in their memories, tiny tragedies

they love to tell you "stay inside the lines"
but something's better on the other side

I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

I am invincible
I am invincible
I am invincible
as long as I'm alive

I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

I just can't wait for my ten year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
and when I stand on these tables before you
you will know what all this time was for

Not really sure. I just remember that I heard this song on the radio a lot a few years ago and that I really liked it. It was only last night after doing a search with some of the lyrics that I actually find out the composers name and the name of the song.

I have both of John Mayer's albums and his music has kind of a rock/pop feel to it, but his second album has more bluesy/jazz riffs in it. I like his music mostly for his lyrics, but the music is catchy and fun. I've read that he's a bit of a jerk in interviews and whatnot, but musically I think he's very talented. My boyfriend disagrees with me heartily... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It is funny this topic came up today...I came home from work today to find one of his cd's in my player. My oldest is a big fan (the younger says the oldest is going to marry him http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ). I was going to play it after reading this but then the phone rang and I forgot to get back to it.

He actually has 3...there is one before "Room For Squares"...its called "Inside Wants Out" Its really just him and a guitar, its very stripped down...its amazing. You can classify him as "Adult Contemperary" basically acoustic rock I guess. I think he's amazing...

I saw him in concert and he was incredible! I was a little shocked at how much he rocked, because he doesn't appear to on his albums as much. And he's a wonderful guitar player, has a great stage personality, and put on an awesome show. I have his albums that were released and think his songs are lovely, so sweet and lyrically great.

He's great. I never read or saw an interview, but it doesn't matter 'cuz his music is enjoyable.

He was the musical guest when i went to a Conan O'Brien taping. Hes not a favorite of mine by a long shot, but i guess the guests could have been worse..
