NEW YORK, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- For over 50 years, Americans have turned to TV to be enlightened, informed and entertained. Some of the most captivating moments in history have been experiences shared simultaneously through the immediacy and reach of television, such as Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon, Bette Midler's farewell to Johnny Carson, and Sammy Davis Jr. planting a kiss on Archie Bunker.


TV Guide Magazine, the preeminent authority on television, and TV Land, the expert on classic TV programming, have partnered to narrow down the 100 most significant, influential, hilarious and shocking TV moments of all time with the premiere of TV Guide and TV Land Present: The 100 Most Memorable TV Moments and a companion issue of TV Guide Magazine. Premiering on Monday, December 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the five-night series of one-hour specials reflects on more than 50 years of outstanding televised moments spanning the spectrum of TV genres, including news, dramas, soaps, comedies, talk shows and sports. TV Guide's December 5th issue (on newsstands December 2) celebrates these moments with five collector's covers including: Charles & Diana's wedding; The Beatles American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show; Elvis' comeback special; Captain Kirk and Uhura share TV's first interracial kiss on Star Trek and Dale Earnhardt, Sr.'s death. Not all covers are available nationwide. The TV Land special is produced by Gay Rosenthal Productions.


100 Most Memorable TV Moments on TV Land features archival clips, original interviews and rare appearances by celebrities who discuss the impact of television's most remarkable moments. From the debut of The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, to Nadia Comaneci's perfect performance in the 1976 Summer Olympics to Michael Jackson's moonwalk, this countdown special showcases the moments that have become indelibly etched in our memories and will continue to stand the test of time.

2004.


* 11 Character Farewells, including the death of James on Good Times and


the hilarious "Chuckles the Clown" episode on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.


* 5 Talk Show Moments such as when Johnny Carson was serenaded by Bette


Midler on his final The Tonight Show.


* 7 Reality Show Moments like the very first million-dollar winner on Who


Wants to Be a Millionaire.


* 5 Olympic Moments including Nadia Comaneci's Perfect 10 and the 1980


Miracle Hockey team.


* 5 Kissing Moments including when Ross and Rachel shared their first kiss


on Friends.


* 30 Moments occurred on NBC; 23 on CBS; 20 on ABC; 4 on Fox and 1 each on


CNN, MTV, HBO and PBS.

just happened to pass tv guide in store and ptl the cover was beatles neast that the top 4 were news related the first entertainment was our lads but we know how great that was.beatles rule

That's very cool! However I do remember back when they had the top 100 music artists and The Beatles were number 1# on the list. That was on some VH1 specail, but I can not recall what year it was on. Does anyone else remember this?

The Beatles have been #1 on a lot of different VH1 lists...but yeah, I think they were #1 on the top music artist list they did.
