What has been your favourite song of the year? My favourite was "Left Outside Alone" by Anastacia. I also liked "First of the Gang to Die" by Morrissey.

Ohhhhhhh gosh it's too hard to choose, since this year has been the year that I've heard so many great songs for the first time. Let me get back to you and I might have a list of about 20.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....I think I'll go with "Time to Build" by the Beastie Boys. After that it would be "Meglomaniac" by Incubus.

I like "This Love" and "Harder to Breathe" by Maroon 5, "Vertigo" by U2, "Unwell" by Matchbox 20 (or was that 2003?)

I also like 'Heroes and Villains.
But the song that I think is the best is by Mick Jagger 'Old Habits Die Hard' from the 'Alfie' soundtrack. I heard about this soundtrack on an HBO Video On Demand 'making of the soundtrack'. This is Jagger at his bluesy best! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I bought the cd.

I liked Keane's "Everybody's Changing" but I don't believe it was that succesful. Of other new songs I liked some stuff from Maroon 5 and Jet ("Sexy Sadie Revisited" a.k.a. "Look What You've Done")... but the greatest song of the year came from a classic act: U2's "Vertigo". Classic, timeless tune. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh man. I just realized how out of it I am, I haven't heard any of these songs at all. All I listen to is music from the 50's - 70's now, there is never modern music playing at our house anymore. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush4.gif

I guess that I am not the only one who likes 'Old Habits Die Hard'. It was just nominated for 'Best Original Song From A Movie' Golden Globe award.

Me, neither, really. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush3.gif
Maroon 5's stuff is cute. But my favorite song of the year is that incredibly infectious song by Gretchen Wilson, "Red Neck Woman." I like the way she sings it. Actually, I like today's country. It's more "poppy" than the top 40 is, because http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf3.gif rap has dug its evil talons onto that chart. And I also like that Franz Ferdinand band, because I saw the video to their first single and it was very trippy. Can't recall the name of the song, though http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shakehead3.gif

I don't really like any of the songs of today, they're quite annoying, but I like most of Marron 5's songs.
But I rarely turn on 94 rock, instead of listening to my Oldies http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif..

Earlier this year I heard "Trouble" (I think that is the correct title) by Pink and love it. That is a really cutting edge, ass-kickin' song. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup2.gif

I have tried....but can't find anything
Something which may come close is from Christina Aguilera, something with "Beautiful" in it, that is a catchy song.

"Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand. I love this song. And Franz Ferdinand are, for me, the band of the year. Every song on the album is fantastic but this song stands out.

Did anyone mention "Sunrise" by Norah Jones... at all? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I read and I found out that the Feels Like Home album is from 2004. There you have possibly the best album of the year. And that song is just perfection by one of the most special artists nowadays. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
