Does anyone know of any modern Ukulele musicians who have recorded their work?
No thanks to George Formby! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hello!

My dad is a total uke enthusiast, and so I will check with him, and will ask him to recommend some artists... but a few that I can tell you off hand who are good are Janet Klein (she has a website--just look her up, and you can order her albums if you like what you see/hear on her site), and Ian Whitcomb has a pretty good uke group going. And Bill Tapia is also excellant (he's an older gentleman who plays incredibly well!) There are many more that I know are out there, but I'll have to ask my dad for the names... I can't think of them at the moment... and I can probably post those here for you tomorrow or the next day. Anyway, those are three that are pretty good to start with. And, if you like Hawaiian Uke stuff, there's always Iz Kamakawiwo`ole... he's (he was) really good.... Anyway...will try to get some more names to you here soon! Glad to know that you are interested in the uke...when played right, it can be quite good!

BTW, (slight plug here), if you'd like to check out my dad's site, he has tons of uke info there, and you can probably find some info out about other artists from his site (particularly on the "uke heros" pages--which includes George Harrison, Tiny Tim, George Formby, and many more, and links to pages with info about each individual. The "Links" page also has A TON more, as does the homepage when you scroll down...!) [and I believe that, if you'd like to, you can even listen to some of his--my dad's--music samples on there...I think that he still has that on there somewhere, not sure...]. So, check that out if you wanna! (He's also got links in the uke heros section, btw, to sites for all of the people whose names I mentioned above...)

Here's the url:
http://www.catfish1952.com/

*and...if you want to e-mail him with a uke question, he'll get back to you in timely fashion with an answer...*

Hope that helps for now! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif! More soon....
