I have to say I am quite jaded about todays music scene. Very few songs do anything for me at all. I have to admit though that I find Beautiful by Christina Aguilera to be a great song. I mean really really really good. I have not felt this way about a song in a long time. I have to stop whatever I am doing when I hear this song come on the radio. What a fantastic voice too. Goosebumps galore.

I like this song too Matt.
The lyrics are great and she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard!

Yup, I like 'Beautiful', too. I like the lyrics and I think the melody is beautiful. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm not a fan of Christina at all, but I must admit that I do like this song. If only she could do more stuff like this instead of some of her other songs I would like her a lot more.

I like the lyrics (better than average pop music), but I don't appreciate the vocal gynastics that she does in the middle of the song... We know she's got a voice, she doesn't need to stretch it to a Mariah-like screech! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/afraid1.gif

Oh, I think the song is very beautiful (no pun intended) and agree with you Matt. I think Christina Aguilera has a gorgeous voice. I actually own this CD, and I'm not ashamed, just because I loved that song. Another gorgeous song on there is The Voice Within.
I know nothing about her personally, but her voice and a few of her songs really appeal to me.

according to some of my friends who are actual singers, the way she sings is dystroying her vocal chords, so eventually she wont be able to sing at all...just thought I'd pass that along

My question is why does everyone seem to feel "ashamed" to admit they like a Christina Aguilera song? I don't see anything wrong with that. I admitted I own the album that the song Beautiful is on, and I also like one other song on there, though I honestly haven't gotten into any others.
I personally find her to be a talented singer and a legitimate artist in her own right. I guess because she dresses a little, um, suggestively? Is that why? Otherwise, I'm a little confused.
I mean, Britney, Jessica, and ther others I could understand feeling "ashamed," but Aguilera I consider a big step up-same for Norah Jones and Alicia Keyes. I can't say I know anything about these people other than the fact that their voices are beautiful and they have a few very lovely songs.

I'm not a Christina Aguilera fan, but 'Beautiful' a song I really love.
It's actually a song that shows great musical talent. The chord structures, the emotion, the lyrics, the style, everything!
The only thing that should go IMO is the warbling that Christina seems to try and add in more and more near the end. All it needs is simple, melodic lyrics - not a 'how many notes can we fit into one bar' contest.

I saw a live performance of it, maybe it is the clip, I don't know, but I love it, it has power and great lyrics..

I like that song, too. The melody sounds like John's "Isolation," to me. Does anyone else hear it, or am I just more Lennon-obsessed than I thought? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
