I often forget The Moody Blues when I list the greatest British bands. They put out a lot of great albums and classic songs like Nights In White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon, I'm Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band, The Voice and others, great band! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup1.gif

I love so many of their songs! Even the songs that many never heard of like Emilys Song. It never became a hit but it sure has beautiful harmony! Most of the songs that never became a hit I just love. It's just too bad that not too many know those songs that never were hits. The only way a person would know them would be if they actually had the album tape, or the cd. They also have beautiful hits of course. One thing I truly love about The Moody Blues is, they have such a theatrical sound to them. I can always imagin such images that would come from a dramatic play each time I listen to them. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rocknroll1.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flower2.gif

The MBs are my second favorite band (the lads are the first!) I adore them! I have almost all of their albums, and I listen to them constantly! I love all of the many different directions that their music takes, and I love the way that they (in particular Justin Hayward) write! They were even good in their first incarnation as a blues band, with Denny at the lead... I've seen them in concert, and I cannot wait to do so again! They are just brilliant! There are just too many songs of theirs that I love to really start listing favorites... They are musical geniuses, and I love them! I could go on all day about how great they are, but I think I'll stop there (for now...! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif!)

BTW, my fave MB albums:

Days of Future Passed
On The Threshold Of A Dream
In Search Of The Lost Chord
Strange Times

They are my second favorite, too! I have all their stuff and have seen them in concert. Justin Hayward is a very handsome man! I love how intense their harmonies are and how poetic. I like all the orchestration.

Some of my fave songs are

Watching and Waiting
Forever Autumn
Emily's Song
Dear Diary
The Actor
The Best Way to Travel
Lovely to See You
Question
It's Up to You
The Voice
I'm Just a Singer
and my very fave is Fly Me High

Their discography is at http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=1979.

Ha... Yes, I think Justin (especially in that photo that I posted...) is kind of a "hottie" too... He's on my list of good looking guys! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heart2.gif! Glad to know that I am not the only one that digs his looks around here! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif!

I saw then in concert last year. One time at home in Amsterdam, and before in Glasgow. Fantastic show. Review with some pictures is up on my site.
They still continue to make fantastic music.

It is said that Procol Harum, either comes from a friend of Gary's, Guy Stevens', cat's birth certificate, Procol Harun, LOL, or a Latin "procul" for "far from these things".

After visiting the main Procol Harum website I followed links and viewed a picture of this cat.
The internet is an awesome thing. the eponymous cat

I've always thought that The Moody Blues is one of the most underrated bands of all time. Their catalogue of material is good and at sometimes really incredibly, but they were never shoved down society's collective throat as music we ought to be consuming, and so their following is small in the younger generations. On average the only young people I meet that know of the Moody Blues are those who were in a high school marching band and did a show using their music. It's quite sad really cause I just love them.

one thing immediately caught my eye Legs...I know they lived close by and even met regularely

"I remember buying a George Harrison album, and hearing a song, and thinging 'that's the one that got away.' I didn't get it, but further downstream--and George used to live about three miles away--George was up that night and he hooked the bugger. "

This is just beautiful from that link;

I like to visualize that creative ideas are being poured out of an urn, almost like Aquarius pouring out the water. Instead of water coming out, there would be musical notes and lyrics and paintings. And then the wind would blow them, and they would be moving in a more horizontal pattern, like a river. Alongside the river would be people sitting, with pencil in hand, an empty notebook, and a guitar on their knee, which is really their fishing tackle. As these ideas come by, you try and grab one for you.

I thought you might like these words. They're beatiful. I keep my fishing line out, hoping to catch some new words.
The Moody Blues are a very inspirational band. Even more so when Mike was in them, but their music of today still is beautiful.

That would be nice, Legs... those really are inspiring words... looks like some Henley inspiration...match those words with some words of "Pisces Fish" and you have a Henley day out
