No not The Beastie Boys or B boys in general, I'm talkin The Beach Boys, IMHO along with The Beatles the best rock and roll group ever. Their post Good Vibrations era was definatly underated, they put out a lot of high quality uncommercial albums in the late sixties and seventies notably Sunflower, Surfs Up, Carl And The Passions, Holland and Love You. As Brian Wilson retreated furthur from reality in his room the other band member s stepped up to the plate and contributed outstanding compositions of their own, especially Dennis Wilson who delivered some knock out punches with his ballads like Forever, Cuddle Up, Only With You etc. A largly unknown era for a band we all know, for music fans everywhere check it out! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like The Beach Boys. I've got "Pet Sounds" and "The Very Best of the Beach Boys". They did some fine songs. One great song, usually forgotten, is "Lady Lynda" which uses a famous Bach piece for the intro and outro. The Beach Boys are great.

I just got a cd that has 2 albums SMiley Smile and Wild Honey plus some bonus tracks alternate take of heroes and villians and rehearsals of good vibrations.

Brilliant not so commercial music. Smiley Smile was very much like Smile.
Smile was written as a 3 part rock symphony, and Smiley Smile has a lot of the music but in order like seperate tracks. A must for Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fans.

During the 60's they were one of my faves, of course the Beatles being my fave after coming onto the scene, but I have to admit, not one of my faves now, as back then... There are still many of their songs after The Fab Four hit the States, that I enjoy listening too still, but I usually don't get their tunes out too often anymore..

I don't know if Carl and the Passions was so great, seeing they had to put it into a double w/Pet Sounds.

IMO best LP of 66 was Pet Sounds.

Brian Wilson has some excellent solo albums that he put out over the last 10 years or so, one of which, Gettin' In Over My Head, is current and has Elton John, Clapton, and Paul McCartney on it for guest appearances.
the one called "Imagination" could be the best, though.

My favorite Brian Wilson solo albums are his self titled debut, and of course SMiLE. Orange Crate Art with Van Dyke Parks is great to. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually, I also like his self titled cd best. Love and Mercy could be one of his best songs ever.
However, I think Imagination has a better production sound as does the new Smile which has turned me on more than anything I've heard in a long time.

I just got and listened to Brian Wilson Live At The Roxy 2 cd set.
It's a well, officially recorded show in LA in 2001 of a strong performance of Brian and the Wondermints.
It sounds good and Brian is lively with banter.
Good Beach Boy songs and solo Brian. Highly recommend for any Brian Wilson fans.

I don't know much about them but I love what I've heard!

My favorite is probably "Wondefull" http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
