The new REM album is superb. They have been a bit hit and miss for the last decade or so (Monster anyone? YUCK!)
This album is a solid collection of songs which are mainly acoustic but Michael Stipes voice has never been better.
Check out The Outsiders, a standout track with a bit of hip hop thrown in for good measure.

Stipe is a very good songwriter although he doesn't seem to get recgonised for this. They are pleying the UK next year at some huge venues (Football Stadiums, Loch Lomand Country Park). They are still a huge act in the UK although I believe they are not as big in the US anymore.

I was somewhat troubled by a lot of the negative reviews by both critics and fans, they keep expecting Rem to make another Life's Rich Pageant or Document. I really like Rem's last few albums since the departure of Bill Berry, and ATS is an awesome record that gets better and better every time I hear it. My favorite songs are Aftermath, The Ascent Of Man, Final Straw, Wanderlust, High Speed Train, and I Wanted To Be Wrong.
