Normally I wouldn't put much truth in this, but Q isn't just any magazine.

I still can't see it happening. I would already be happy if Gilmour got up from his lazy butt and did something with Pink Floyd again. But who knows, it would be great ofcourse if all ego's have been locked away, and the four of them would go on the road again.

wow! that would be interesting! but, i have a hard time beliveing too. PF is in my top 5 fave bands of all times but i think roger waters is a huge part of them when he quit after the "final cut". i consider that the last real PF lp altho the other members were more or less "session musians" to Waters on that lp and waters even fired nick mason for cocaine use any way what a great band! it would be neat to see a "reunion"

Actually that was Rick Wright. I consider the two albums after that to be Pink Floyd albums as well. Tho in the case of "A Momentary Lapse" it's more of Dave Gilmour with studio musicians. "The Division Bell" was more like an old fashioned Floyd album tho, with Wright back where he belongs. His influence on the sound of Pink Floyd is often overlooked.

Please not. I can't see how he can contribute anything now. No offense to fans of Syd, but he only was with them for an album and a half. They don't need him.

Poor Syd is totally destroyed anyway...he doesn't even know who he was. I saw some TV program about Pink Floyd a while back and he's a broken, mentally ill old man. It is one of the most tragic stories in rock.

Well, that's what some would have you believe - others say that he's surprisingly well, although understandably rueful about what happened to his group...

I was actually skeptical of your stance, Paolo, so I went and looked up some info about Syd on the net...and you might just be right.

I admit, I was going by just one thing I saw on TV a while ago, but there appears to be a lot more going on than that one documentary would have people believe...

Here are some pages containing info and articles about Syd Barrett:

Interesting...

I believe the present-day Syd myths stem from a mid-90's 'Mojo' cover article which claimed that he was lying in a hospital ward, almost blind as a result of failing to take his insulin, among other things. The story was written by one Cliff Jones who later wrote a book claiming to detail the stories behind every Pink Floyd song which was so inaccurate that the group took him to court - draw your own conclusions... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Just when I thought Pink Floyd had retired for good. If It's true this would be cool. But watch out for the ticket prices http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/afraid5.gif

It doesn't matter how many albums he recorded with PF http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. He showed that he was a good musician, although his carrer was very short (not because he got tired, or wasn't talented, he's esquizo http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

I like PF's psychedelic period: "see Emily play", "Bike", "Arnold Layne", "Astronomy Domine" among many others http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Syd Barret's mental state makes Brian Wilson look like Paul McCartney. I always heard stories like he dunked his head in a bucket of LSD and was a casualtie ever since, and that he was living in his mother's basement. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dazed.gif

Complete and utter bollocks (pardon my French http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif). Syd did once crush a load of Mandrax tablets into some hair gel and tip the resulting mixture over his head just before he went on stage, but that's as far as that story goes. After he left/was abandoned by Pink Floyd, Syd returned to Cambridge to live with his mother, but the living in the basement/attic myth stemmed from a particularly malicious and untrue '70s newspaper article.

Thanks for the post Paolo, I was of course skeptical when I heard these stories, as we know this is what the myths and legends of rock is made of. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
