Just wondering if there is anyone in the Los Angeles area who will be attending this next Monday night? The famous 1968 concert with the Stones, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, the Who and several others, is going to be showing at a Regal Cinema Theater out in Irvine, CA this coming Monday, Oct. 11th. If you haven't seen this before, it's TERRIFIC, and John Lennon does a *searing* version of 'Yer Blues' with Eric Clapton.
I believe that The Rock and Roll Circus will also be screened in select theaters across the United States-- if you go to this link http://www.bigscreenconcerts.com/subpage/index.asp?eventID=433
It will tell you if there's a showing nearby. I'm telling you, it'll *definitely* be worth the $15.00 bucks the tickets cost!

point well taken, and the movie screening is in conjuction with the DVD release. But I'll gladly spend an extra $15.00 to watch John on a huge screen singing one of my favorite songs! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've seen some of the show before, but it was an old junky VHS tape that had been copied 100 times. Irvine isn't too far, this sounds like a good idea. Are you buying tickets online or are you just going to go down there that night?

Well I'm going for sure. I think it's an IMAX, which should be very cool. It's only half sold out, so I'm sure anybody can go down there and just buy the tickets tonight. Anybody else going?

The show was great. It kind of reminded me of Magical Mystery Tour a little, just with the Stones running the show. In between performances, they had little circus acts and other stuff. But the music - that's what mattered.
Every band played sweet stuff and they all sounded great. Jethro Tull and the Who were especially good. And Lennon's performance of "Yer Blues" was really nice, it kind of made me imagine what a White Album tour would have been like. Yoko's thing was the usual yelling and screaming I can't stand, but even that was backed up by Lennon's supergroup. And then the Stones closed out the show with several songs, with Jagger really going all out, just a great performance. There's even an alternate take of "Yer Blues" at the end of the DVD, which of course is like finding gold for me.
All in all, it's a good DVD, it gives you a nice picture of the music scene in London 1968. It was sweet to see the whole thing on a movie screen, and a radio station gave away CDs, shirts, and DVDs to the first 20 or so people in line.
