The song was mentioned in a discussion about speed in another forum.
Although George was one of the most talented melodic and inventive guitar players of all time, he was not exceptionaly fast on the frets.
Do you think he played the Spanish style intro to this song?

I remember reading somewhere that he did not play that solo. It was a piece that the Beatles dug up from the studio archives. Apparently its also not an into to bungalow bill (I had always thought it was myself) but is actually an outro to wild honey pie.

Acording to recording sessions, the acoustic guitar piece was recorded separatly and tagged onto take 3 of "Bungalow Bill".

According to Revolution IN The Head, that lead was Paul.

From what I read, those sounds come from a mellotron, emulating the sounds of a guitar. Sadly I don't remember the source where I read that. I agree, though, George was not notorious for being a "fast" guitar player, and this intro sounds nothing like him either. Does anyone remember the real story behind this one?

Yeah, I read that's a mellotron played by Chris Thomas or some guy named Eric Cook.

I have tried to chase the real story but haven't found it yet. What Legs posted is the closest I get.

The name Richard Cook - maybe that is the Eric Cook, Cecilia - is actually the name where this story is based on, he was tiger hunting with his Mom and his Mom was telling a story about that whilst the whole lot was sitting with the Maharishi. That's where John got it from. He was far from please about the story, but that's for another topic.

I don't think George did the intro, with all respect, even though his acoustic skills are far better than some may think. He's done some sensational things on his acoustic songs.
