I've heard that too but then again, I heard that he had no middle name. Of course, we heard George did from Geofrey Guilino (sp?)... who knows rather to trust him... So... Hmm...

I think it is his middle name, but it may be more of a nickname (after his dad) as its not on George's birth certificate.

I'm sure it is. I've looked on a lot of resources and they say that Harold is his middle name.

There is a related thread from 2003 entitled "George Harrison Question." http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Maccagirl, what resources have you checked? This is interesting.
I've read related material that has given all 3, but that remains dubious.
There are some books that declare George had 3 names, but since no middle name appears on his birth certificate and his sister claims that to be accurate, I have come to believe that he was George Harrison! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
After all, the man's own sister ought to know! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Websites and books. I am 99 % positive that it is his middle name. If only we could ask the man himself.

Which web sites?
We all know Geoffrey Guiliano is not the most accurate reporter. I have read other books and even articles that list all three names. Seems kinda odd in a way. George's father was Harold Sr., George had a brother named Harold James and so a third male with the name seems a bit unlikely. The monarch for whom George was named must have been a cool king to have a future Beatle named after him !
I would be inclined to believe the man's sister and his birth certificate.

Well, let's see, there was the 40th anniversary Beatles tribute magazine. I saw it on a timeline on a website, but I forgot which one. No Geoffrey books on that one.

How about Ringo? Does he have a middle name? Of all the things I've read, only one book stated that he did. It gave the initial, but I don't remember what it was....

Our beloved drummer is a two-name Beatle. You can find a related thread on Goodnight, Vienna.
As for George, the question is raised. I have some magazine and newspaper articles from late 2001 after his untimely demise that give all three names; I have 40th Anniversary issue magazines that give all three and some old articles from the early to mid-1970s that give all three.
However, I would still be inclined to believe the man's own sister and his birth certificate. The man was registered as "George Harrison," but in recent years we learned that he was NOT born on February 25 as everybody originally believed, BUT at a shade before midnight on February 24. The bottom line is, there will ALWAYS be inaccuracies in record-keeping, but I would still tend to go with those who were close to the man and knew him personally. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Guiliano and several websites (some of which probably used Guiliano as a source or a source from that source) VS George's own sister.... hmmm.... i think i'll go with what the latter said. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

GEORGE DOES NOT HAVE A MIDDLE NAME!!!!
You know how I know? I asked Louise Harrison, George's sister, because SHE knows and she's the most reliable source about George's name and birthday.
Geoffery Guilanno makes it his business to insert a middle name that doesn't exist.
And no, Ringo doesn't have a middle name either.
Only John and Paul have middle names. Winston and...Paul...as in James Paul http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you all for the answers!
Now we all know for sure that he's real name was GEORGE HARRISON, no middle names! I believe in what Louise said, after all she's his sis!

That's what I've been saying as well...I'd go with what the man's own sister said. Good grief!
Mark Shapiro is another author who uses 3 names for George and I've come across articles since the mid-1970s that have as well. Many magazine articles about George from 2001 to the present give three names. I believe the man's name is GEORGE HARRISON. After all, that is what is on his birth certificate and that is what has been said by the man's closest relatives.
Oh, and you met George's sister? Very interesting indeed. I sense a story there.... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
