As late as April 1970, George still though in a rather positive way about The Beatles, and even Paul ?

Pleasantly suprising, pity things had to change...

I was a little surprised about the positiveness about the possibility of the Beatles getting back together. But as it was pointed out- this was before the court case. It seems that, at least among John and George, there was a positive look on the Beatles reuniting. I don't know about Paul or Ringo. but even years later, at least John seemed up on the idea in some of his interviews.
I would assume that the "played a few songs for Phil Spector" (paraphrasing) bit was a reference to what we know as the "Beware of ABKCO" bootleged recordings. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

anyway, i hadn't read that before you posted it here-- THANKS!
