This is an article which was posted a while ago, but as elections are coming up, it is interesting to read again. There are parts which definitely strike me.

"George was doing a benefit concert for the NLP, his first live performance in the UK for years. "

The first in years. We know George, he must have really believed in this cause.

"He sat at a table as journalists filed in one by one for their 20 minutes with one of the most famous names in music history.
He was friendly, animated, at times intense, and occasionally prone to meandering into mystical dead ends."

I love that...friendly, animated, at times intense... yes, yes, yes, I can imagine this well.

"In truth the interview became a bit of a tussle. I wanted to talk about his music, about The Beatles and about Liverpool. He was on a one-man mission to promote the merits of the NLP."

Uuuuh, Mr Interviewer man, George was present to promote the NLP, not the Fabs!!!!!!!! A tussle...good for George, he stuck to the important things, giving just enough Fab talk to not be impolite.

"But when he did talk about the things I wanted to talk about, his mood changed. He became less intense, more reflective and even wistful."

Less intense....so he was intense...when he was discussing that which he really believed in. That is a big word, intense. And it suits George I believe. And it is a good thing!!!

"It wasn't long though before we were back to the election. Some of it made sense, even if it was hopelessly idealistic. Some of it in truth, made no sense at all. "

I just loved this, particularly thinking about the upcoming elections. Maybe some people even thought George was too forward in his opinions, but that is important sometimes. NLP had great ideas and I am sorry they aren't more active now and don't have a candidate running in the current upcoming elections.

It is a great image to see George this way. Many see John as the real political Fab, but George can be seen that way, too, in his wonderful and warm way.

There was so much about George that I think was warm and wonderful. He was a deeply committed, very intense individual who took whatever he did and/or believed in very seriously.

Thanks for the article and the link. I think George was a very interesting person.

Here is a bit about the NLP?

For our elections here in the States, the closest runner philosophically would be Ralph Nader, imo.

To me it is nice to see George's political side. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
