On the Anthology, when they're talking about being in India (?) George is talking about songs that he wrote there, and, "Has never recorded to this day." Does anyone know about any of them? Especially Dera Doone (I dunno if that's how it's spelled, but he sings part of it, and I really like it http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ).

'Dera Dhun' was an unreleased gem from the 'All Things Must Pass' sessions (if I recall correctly) and you can download it from here - 'Dera Dhun' and much more... (http://www.geocities.com/losbeatles21/bootlegs.htm)

I love Dera Dhn - whats the story behind that tune? I guess it wasn't really a song the Beatles as a group would have wanted to record but why not George on his own? I think its lovely, I could listen to it over and over for hours.... Beggars in a Goldmine....

Dehra Dun is indeed shown in the Anthology video and also appears on various bootlegs in various versions, of which you can find some info here.

http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~garp/hari/gboot02.htm#str004

The recordings date from the All Things Must Pass sessions.

Dehra Dun, a village 25 miles from Rishikesh in India, was written at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in India.

What we see in the Anthology was taped on June 23, 1994 at Friar Park.

Lovely ukelele tune which was born during the 1968 Rishikesh excursion and George recorded it during the All Things Must Pass sessions.

It is even being considered that Any Road grew from this song.

What amazes me is that at some points these great composers call these "a little song"... Go figure. This is a great song. Pity that George didn't have an opportunity to release it properly, although I do think that "Any Road" grew from this one. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ahem...

Well let's just say that I have a certain "dutch bootleg" which lists that song, along with "Gopala Krishna" and "Going down to golders green", as being from the Doris Troy sessions.

Maybe I should put you in contact with the Rottardam inhabitant that sent me this CD, hmmm ? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
