Is it true Norah Jones is the daughter of Ravi Shankur? Does that mean she is George's God daughter too, or is that just, um, her sister? Why didn't Norah play at the Concert for George then too?

I read that she is from Dallas and she is very well known and loved in my part of the world.

Since she is Ravi Shankar's daughter, I, too have wondered if she knew George. Ravi loved George like a son and the former Beatle's mentor had a deep bond that transcended music with George from all accounts. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Really? I heard something different. Although Ravi is very proud of her career, both father and daughter do not speak. In fact, Norah never utters his name in public. (I read about this in both PEOPLE magazine and Parade from the Sunday paper)

my understanding is that the shankar family has embraced norah over the last few years, and she has embraced them. i don't know the specifics about her relationship with ravi, but i've seen several things about norah and anoushka, who have gotten to be very close.

Even tho they weren't brought up together, they both obviously inherited their dad's musical genes and I'm glad that they have found each other. Man, they could pass for twins actually-especially in that pic where they got their tattoos together...
