Ok everybody, Let's pretend we were going to make an album spanning George's entire career. Which songs should be here? Let's make it a 3 disc set.

I know that some may say 'done it before' but I believe many things we do each day we have done before..
Okay, let's do this, 3 discs is nice, that makes it like the album which next year will have it's 35th anniversary.
Let's agree therefore on a maximum of 35 songs and after a while we take mid term conclusions.
Also, because of the Box set, opinions may have changed, in my case certainly that happened.
I start working on it http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Would this have to go in Chronological order or not? Mixing solo with Beatle/Wilbury stuff without going year by year would be very nice. Could we also include famous bootlegs(such as the Rejected SIE tracks, Mo, etc.)

Herman Brood is a Dutch singer who covered it and did a wonderful job. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of this version from a WONDERFUL friend and it is my favorite version.
Since this is a fantasy album anyways I thought I would include it because Sour Milk Sea is one of my favorite George songs.

And you thought the signature would cause reactions http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
I love Herman Brood's version.
So that means covers are acceptable in the list too. Is that logical? But okay, let's do it. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I don't want to do it is on the Porkys Revenge soundtrack and Abandoned Love is a Dylan cover which I think is only available on bootleg - I got it from WinMX.One of his best covers IMO.

I knew 'I don't want to do it' sounded familiar, I just bought that cd, silly me. And I don't really do the bootleg thing so I guess I will have to stick with 'If Not For You' as my fave Dylan cover. Thanks Sir!

yes it was difficult, and a random thought on this topic. Just think if it is so hard for us, just imagine how much harder it would be for the people 'closer' to his music. No wonder we haven't seen an 'Essential' album yet. Patience is a virtue.

I'm going to make it 45 songs. If it's three discs, they can easily fit 15 songs per disc. Solo stuff only:
DISC ONE
1. My Sweet Lord
2. Wah-Wah
3. Isn't it a Pity
4. What is Life
5. Run of the Mill
6. Beware of Darkness
7. Apple Scruffs
8. Awaiting on You All
9. Art of Dying
10. Bangla Desh
11. Deep Blue
12. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)
13. Don't Let Me Wait Too Long
14. Living in the Material World
15. Miss O'Dell
DISC TWO
1. So Sad
2. Ding Dong Ding Dong
3. Dark Horse
4. I Don't Care Anymore
5. You
6. The Answer's at the End
7. This Guitar (Can't Keep from Crying)
8. His Name is Legs (Ladies and Gentlemen)
9. Beautiful Girl
10. This Song
11. True Love
12. Crackerbox Palace
13. Learning How to Love You
14. Love Comes to Everyone
15. Blow Away
DISC THREE
1. Faster
2. Your Love is Forever (intro edited to remove the segue)
3. Life Itself
4. All Those Years Ago
5. Lay His Head
6. Sat Singing
7. Wake Up My Love
8. Mystical One
9. Cloud Nine
10. This is Love
11. When We Was Fab
12. Devil's Radio
13. Got My Mind Set on You
14. Any Road
15. Stuck Inside a Cloud
Some albums may be a bit overrepresented, but it'd make a nice compilation.
