It may be nice to put here all kinds of quotes from George.

Here is one about the recording of the 2nd Wilbury album

George explained,

"we got Bob to put a vocal on everything and decide after where the rest of us should fil in... but once Bob's vocal is there, it's hard to wipe off, he's got such an exceptional voice"

Well, one that makes me giggle, although I don't remember it exactly, went something like this:

" I don't know where they get some of this stuff. I'd say 90% of The Beatles history is not true" from the dvd included with the new box set.

Didn't they themselves start some of this stuff? Or at least fuel the flames.

Let's see... these two are from the Anthology:
"My earliest recollection is of sitting on a pot of the top of the stairs, having a poop--shouting, 'Finished!'"
(I always crack up at that one!)
And... I can't quote this one directly... but it goes something like "I threw it in the tool shed and never spoke to it again." (After trying to build his own guitar)
"I think people who can live a life in music are telling the world, 'You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don't need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it's the very best, and it's the part I give most willingly.'"

That is a great one, yes Bob SHOULD be everywhere! I have often thought that Bob should have his very very own country, gifted to him, from the world! His voice, his lyrics, his humor~ Bob! Bob! Bob! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Theres a great interview with George during the 1980s where an interviewer asks George about LSD.George says that the great thing about LSD is that he only needed to take it once to change the way he saw things. The interviewer then asks if George only took LSD once, to which George replys "No,no I took it loads of times but only needed to take it once"

I love it in the Anthology when he talks about the MBE's... saying something along the lines of them being "the lowest condecoration that you can possibly get (grins). After you've made England swing they give you these awful leather medals."

If anyone can find the exact quote please post it. It's by far my favorite quote from the Anthology DVDs. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Interviewer: Have you heard Guns 'n' Roses "Knocking on Heaven's Door?

GH: Yeah, didn't even get the chords right, did they!

Interviewer: So I take it you're not a big fan of that one, then!

GH: There's only three chords in it, but they managed to get one of them wrong. (Laughs)

Here's what George says: "It's the lowest honor that you could possibly get" and then a bit later he says "After all we did for Great Britain, selling all that corduroy and making it swing, and they just gave us that bloody old leather medal with wodden string through it. (laughs)

This is my favorite quote from Anthology too. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In line with that

On Margaret Thatcher: She would benefit from taking the day off and sitting down and listening to the Wilburys instead of nagging everyone.

About "The Quiet One"

They always dubbed me The Quiet One, the Reclusive One, the Business one....Just because I wasn't in nightbclubs all the time they thought I was some kind of freak or something.

aww i love that quote about the quiet one, FPSHOT

here are a couple from anthology that i remember laughing a lot at:

-when they are all talking about meeting elvis at his house and their memories of him at that event, george says something like "i don't really remember much...i spent most of the night trying to see if anybody had any reefers"

-when the boys are talking about how the fans expected so much of them and how they would get so much crap if they did something wrong, he says "that's probably why we started meditating"

i thought those were really funny : )

i like in AHDN when George is showing Shake how to shave on the mirror he says something like "put you tongue away it looks disgusting hanging out all pink and naked." and when they're on the train,
john:lets give em a pull
Pual: should i?
George: Aye but dont rush none of your five bar gate jumps and over sorts of stuff....(something like that lol)
Paul: whats that suppose to mean?
George; i dunno i thought it just sounded distinguished like.

and of course the grotty comment is priceless!

in 1975, on the sitar;

I haven't played the sitar since 1968 or 1969, and the funny thing is that I keep winning the Playboy polls for playing it ....I'm still trying to master the guitar!

in 1988 on Kylie Minogue

It's a sorry situation when the only decent thing in the charts is Kylie Minogue ..That song she did "I Am Your U-B Boat (he means Locomotion http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif ) was all right. At least she looked nice and sang well

From Tom Petty:

One night, Tom and George begin to jam.

Tom says; he started playing the blues and I'd never heard him do that. I asked him; "Why have you never done that? I had no idea you could do that"

And George said "Oh, that's Eric's thing (laughs)

Paul Cashmere: I'm going to start of by talking about movies. I don't know how many times I've see "Monty Python's Life of Brian", in which you have a cameo. I've searched for your part, even on freeze frame. The problem with that movie is that everyone in it looks like George Harrison. Put me out of my misery, where are you in it.?

George Harrison: Well if you're looking for me, then everybody's going to look like that. There's just one little shot, it's probably about 12 frames. Do you know the scene where he comes out of the room and there's crowds of people in the house and John Cleese is there saying "Those people with gifts form a queue on the left, those possessed by demons over to the right" and then he comes out and he says "Brian, Mister Papadopolus has promised to loan us the mount for Monday". You have to go through it again and see that scene and it cuts across and I'm in the crowd and I just say "Eh, Hello, thankyou or something hello". That's all it is!

PC: And you never go an Oscar for that, George?

GH: No, no, but I'm still hoping.

"Oh, by all means. I'd be quite prepared for that eventuality." George's classic deadpan scene in 1964's A Hard Day's Night. My favorite scene was George v. The Ad Men.

"You don't see very many of these nowadays, do you?" George in A Hard Day's Night upon seeing an atrocious sculpture in the reception area of the Ad Office.

"Thanks for the lift, sailor!" George in Help! 1965

I love that "Arthur" line when asked what he called his beautiful wavy hair! Oh, but I do love that man's HAIR!

"I didn't encourage that wink, y'know!" and the related line from Help!, "I'm always getting winked at these days."

"Doesn't sound a bit like Cagney!"

"Don't encourage him. You've already got the part, Paul!"

"I don't want to knock anyone's religion, but..."

Sad, poignant with typical, brilliant droll Harrison humor: When asked towards the end of his life what his profession was, George said, "well, I did play in a band." Just gotta love that George....

He said,
'I believe the past, the present, and the future is just one big cycle'.

He had a deep belief in reincarnation, and i'm glad he passed he's religious beliefs on to me, because i believe he's still here
