I'm hoping that someone can tell me how much these two albums picked up at a garage sale are worth.

OK moving on. I have a copy of Sgt Pepper which looks identical to the actual album, with the exception of the record itself. The record is purple and gives the impression of being made from marble as it contains specks of color on its surface. I also have a copy of Reel Music with a transparent yellow record inside. Does anyone know either precisely what they are worth or within what price range? Thanks very much.

The copy of Sgt. Peppers you have there is known as the Marble Vinyl edition. I've personally seen a copy and it was for sale for £40 ($60).

The copy of Reel Music is a promotional 'gold vinyl' copy. I've seen copies of these but none of them were for sale so I can't put a price on it for now. A search on eBay will hopefully tell you what people are paying for copies.

Hope this helps. I've also moved this to 'Beatles For Sale' since that's the more appropiate forum for this images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks Harbridge. I had no idea that the records were anything unusual until I got it home. Think I'll start steaming the covers off my Yesterday and Today albums now.

Let's hope that was a little joke images/icons/smile.gif

For the purpose of information...

Butcher covers are worth more if the truck sleeves are left on. FACT!

This is because only a limited number of pasteovers were ever produced, and people have been continually peeling off the trucks to reveal the butchers for the last 35 years. During this time, pasteovers have become increasingly rare. They're already worth more than 3rd states! I predict that pasteovers will become impossible to find in about 8-10 years time if the amount of peeling continues.

A mint 3rd state Butcher Cover is valued at about $800 while a mint 2nd state is valued at $1,200.

But if you have a trunk cover and want to know if it houses a butcher slick underneath, you don't have to peel it to check, simply use this guide...
