That's great! The only problem is that a ton of those don't apply and I am a child of the 80's!

Yeah! Very true.
I could add the cartoons that I used to watch in those years: He-man, the smurffs, the thundercats, the transformers (first generation of course), Ninja Turtles in the last years of 80's and anyone remember Mazinger Z?

I think Dave's list applies to us 30*cough* year-olds. Those were great and sadly, very true.

I can relate to a lot of these, but I just got an email the other day just like this one except it was for a child of the 70's... I could relate to that one much more. I think I still have it. I'll find it and start a new topic on it.

Well, I'm much more a 70's child than an 80's child, even tho I'm a late 80's child.

This is strange, I may be a child of the 80s, but I relate a lot more to the 'child of the 70s' board. images/icons/smile.gif

-Kristi<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Me too! I think you and I were even born in the same year. Maybe it's because the '70s one deals more with girls' stuff? graemlins/thinker.gif Or 'cause it deals with things for younger kids? This is more of a "teenager of the '80s" list. graemlins/smile1.gif

Although...for a while, I did think Burt & Loni were a fairytale romance! graemlins/images/icons/frown.gif

OMG! VH-1 is doing a series all this week on this era. It's called "I love the 80's". I watched 1982 last night and part of '83. OMG! It was hysterical graemlins/laugh2.gif . How many of you kids had those ugly ass Cabbage Patch babies? I forgot about those. My daughter couldn't understand the hype on those things! I wished I would have caught '81, darn it! (The year I graduated) They went into the mullets and all the other ugly styles. It's a wonder we survived. But, all in all, I think the '80 was an awesome era. It was "beddie beddie goood..to me!". (guess what famous character I'm impersonating..) graemlins/laugh2.gif

Video games have certainly come a long way since the glory days of Pac-Man, Asteroids, and Space Invaders--the "Holy Trinity" of coin-op video games!!

The final 10:

31. You threw out your Atari console after buying an Intellivision.

32. You were 99.9% sure Sue Ellen shot J.R.

33. You can watch Scarface without once thinking about rap music.

34. You remember Ronald Reagan making that "We begin bombing Russia in five minutes" joke.

35. The notion of a roller-skating musical starring Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly with music from ELO seemed like a good idea.

36. Porky's seemed like a new low.

37. You'd stay up late to watch The Hitchhiker on HBO, because of the dirty bits.

38. You could only complete two sides of Rubik's Cube.

39. Simon Le Bon's lyrics made sense to you.

40. War Games had you wondering if you could really start Armageddon using your crummy TRS-80.

Oh, Lord, I remember that commercial. Ahme, it was based on George Orwell's novel, 1984, in which the world had been enslaved and Big Brother was watching you. I was only four years old, and I still remember vividly that woman throwing the sledgehammer into Big Brother's giant face. Scary!!

You guys are such CHILDREN! images/icons/wink.gif

I wanna see the "child of the 70s" thing...much to my chagrin, I actually came of age during the Decade Taste Forgot...I graduated high school in 1979...ow...

I caught some of that "I Love the 80s" thing on VH1 -- and promptly turned it off after about five seconds, most of which had to do with that atrocity of a hairstyle, the Mullet! Ewwwwwwwwwww.... graemlins/barf3.gif
