For the most part, no. There may be a couple songs that i'll listen to but I'm not into rap at all...

If I couldn't tolerate rap, I'd be driven crazy by my brothers, especially since my brother used to drive me to school all the time! I think a lot of rap is pretty funny, actually, although I literally cannot tolerate Eminem. Whenever I have to listen to him (one of my friends likes him), I get a headache...he raps about how he hates his life, wants to kill his wife, etc. too often for me.
Yeah, rap's entertaining for me, and I actually like quite a few rappers. For some odd reason, when my brother turns on the bass in his car with his massive stereo system, it relaxes me and I usually fall asleep! images/icons/smile.gif
I suppose quite a lot of it is offensive, but I'd rather listen to some idiot brag about his ice and his rims before I listen to someone complain about how they hate their life.

On the whole, I'd have to say that no, I don't like it, but there are a few songs that I do like, so I put "Certain Songs". Too much of it has a negative, violent or misogynistic message for me, but the occasional song with a good message and something melodic in the background or in the rap itself and I don't mind it at all.
Be prepared for lots of invective on this topic. Most people around here seem to hate it with a strong passion. I myself just don't listen to anything I hate that much (ie country music)! images/icons/smile.gif

I'll admit... there was a time in high school where I was a fan of hip-hop, and then I saw the light. graemlins/wink3.gif Though I'll be honest and say I voted for "certain songs", because there are a few songs out there that I don't think are totally bogus.

Some of the hip-hop songs I've heard coming from my daughter's room have been been, well, a little catchy. images/icons/smile.gif But, don't tell I said so. graemlins/sssh.gif

There's a few 'old school' rap songs that I like, but other than that, the genre has very little appeal to me.

this genre has no appeal to me, how it ever got into a music category at all is beyond me, I like music, all kinds, but I do not consider Rap/Hip-Hop worthy of being called music, an annoyance perhaps, sorry to those that like it, just a big noise headache to me.

It's never really appealed that much to me. All the songs sound basically the same. I'll admit, that once in awhile, one rap/hip-hop song will come out that I'll like and it'll get stuck in my head, but then I'll forget about it soon enough and that will be the end of it. There's never really been one that's had the power to stay with me for a lifetime...

Helene<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Huge Al fan here...he's done a few rap songs (AP, "Twister," "It's All About the Pentiums," "Couch Potato," "Trash Day") and those are all my favorite rap songs.
I like that song "Mrs. Jackson" too. And "Mama Said Knock You Out" is cool.

Rap's not really something I listen to on a regular basis, but there are quite a few songs I like. My two favorite artists are Outkast and Tupac Shakur.
Now, get the tomatoes ready...I love Eminem. I consider him extremely talented for his genre, much more so than that other white abomination, Vanilla Ice.
