I'm not to sure I agree with the Bee Gee's but.. the first one to come to my mind was Andy Gibb

Hmm, i'm not sure really. I'll agree that O Town was definitely a flash in the pan. Spice Girls were in my opinion and so was Hanson.

My favorite flash in the pan? That's easy... Flash & the Pan.
No, seriously, there was a group from Australia back in the late 70s who found probably the most apt name they could have come up with. Maybe they were too far ahead of their time (Men at Work wouldn't give the Oz groups here in the States any recognition for another 3 years), but I just listened again to a clip from their one big single "Hey St. Peter" (found at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000005NN7/qid%3D1059 234834/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-3948020-8381652 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000005NN7/qid%3D1059234834/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-3948020-8381652) ), and all the derisive things I said about them back them came bubbling back like ichors in the veins of a demon slated to star in a sequel at the cineplex.
I think if we're going to name flash in the pans, though, there should be a statute of limitations; a group has to have had their success a few years ago and not been heard from since. As the release schedules for CDs are such now that it can take three years to cut a new album, may I suggest that we limit the naming of bands to those without a release since 1995; the last thing any poster here needs is to be on the record as saying so-and-so are spent and then find that the target's made the critic's darling release of 2004. (Remember, a lot of people thought the Beatles were washed up around late 1966 because they stopped touring and hadn't released anything in a while...)

Hootie & The Blowfish, The B-52's, Talking Heads, The Go-Go's. I don't know if these qualify as a flash, but I miss these guys! images/icons/frown.gif
Hey. Anyone remember Quarterflash? More "flashes" would be Katrina & The Waves, Night Ranger & Rainbow.

i'm glad you like those bands too. i love "rock lobster"!

I think Samantha Mumba's song was something like "Didn't Tell You This Tonight" or "I Want to Tell You This Now" I didn't like her at all, yet I still remember how the song went, and what the video was....how sad. But I can't remember the EXACT title.
