Hi all! I am hoping that some of you (or maybe even just that lone one of you) out there can help me, and my mother...

Got to go back in time a little bit for this one…back "through the mists of time" (as our Paulie says) to my decade of choice—-the 60’s!

My mother has been driving all of us crazy around here for the last few days, talking endlessly about this "great thing" from the 60’s that she recalls. Problem is, the rest of us have never heard of it! I wasn’t around then (unfortunately), but have studied up over the years (attempting to make up for all that I missed out on), and feel that I know the 60’s pretty well--- especially the music scene (my parents often come to me with questions, and they were there! )--but I am not familiar with this particular work, and neither is my father! According to my mother, there was an album out at that time (so she says) called "The Wozard of Id." She has fond memories of it, and is now starting to wonder if she might be the only person in the world that knows of it! So...she begged me to ask of all you, my new Beatle buddies, if any of you were 1) familiar with this album (Heard it? Heard of it?) and 2) if any of you know where she might be able to obtain a copy--to replace the one that she lost all those years ago (she’s looking for it in any format she can find--record, CD, tape...)

If any of you have ever heard of this thing, and maybe wish to share your thoughts/recollections of it with she and I--AND/OR--if you know where a copy may be available, it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Anyway...she’ll be delighted to know that I have posed the question! Thank you guys in advance for any help you may offer up, or any groovy comments that you may wish to leave about how she must have "dreamed" (that is, with or without--er--"mind-expanding assistants"--that may have been present at the time...) it all up!
Thanks!!!!!!

(Wow, BeatleChick is so tired and dingy right now, she starts singing...) "Oh I’m off to see the WOZARD..."

And look--------->

Hi BeatleChick!

There was an album called "The Wozard of Id" by Mort Garson and it's described as "a psychedelic satire with Bernie Krause providing a rich array of environmental sound effects..." on this (http://www.spaceagepop.com/garson.htm) website about Garson. I wish I could provide more info, but I haven't heard the album myself, lol.. There are a few more pages about it linked from Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22The+Wozard+of+Id%22 ( http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22The+Wozard+of+Id%22) . Anyway, I hope I've been of some help to you and your mom (who wasn't dreaming afterall, heheh). graemlins/dance.gif

Interesting that this, like most stuff, has a Beatles connection. Bernie Krause was of course the guy George recorded "Electronic Sounds" with. His name was even on the original LP cover, but silvered out at the last minute.

Learned some more about the Wozard, heheh! ;)Though I did find a few sites that referred to the album using "The Wozard of Id" as a title (like the one I linked from my last post), most of them are calling it "The Wozard of Iz" instead, so I think that may be the correct title. It's an electronic/space/moog/psychedelic album that is highly sought and unfortunately, extremely rare to find. You can read a little more about Garson at Hyp Records (http://www.wildsscene.com/music/oddpop/moog_mg.html). I only found one website that's offering the "Wozard" LP for sale ($95 - eek :-\) and it's this Vinyl Revival (http://www.vinylrevival.com/lists/exp.shtml) page. You might be able to find more for sale in these pages listed as search results from Altavista ( http://www.altavista.com/web/results?q=mort+garson+wozard&kgs=0&kls=1&avkw=aapt ) or elsewhere.

Maybe you could get her the "Wozard" for her birthday, Christmas, or whatever comes first? graemlins/thumbsup1.gif Good luck! images/icons/smile.gif

Wow! Thanks so much you guys! You are the best!!!

And thanks for the links to places that have it available...I think $95 is a little steep, but maybe I can save up enough money to do that for Xmas!!! I'll check out those other sites as well to see what kind of deals they may have on it!

Wow...I was really expecting responses questioning my/her sanity, rather than any of you guys really knowing it! Now that I know it's for real, I am very curious myself, and am anxious to get a copy of it just to hear it!

Wow...and, that is SOOO COOL about the Beatle connection!!!! I would have never thought that Bernie--of Electronic Sounds--was partly behind Woz!!!! Oh boy, now I'm going to have to go listen to that album--ES!!! (Just goes to prove, again, that there is nothing in this world that can't be traced back to the Beatles!!!)

Oh, I can't thank you guys enough!!! My mother will be delighted to know that she isn't the only one that knows it!!! She's not crazy (well, maybe a little...) after all! And...maybe if she's good, she'll get the album for Xmas (so--I'll just withhold telling her the information about where it's available...and will start saving up now for it--incase I have to pay $95--anyway, that would be a cool Xmas gift!!!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!!!

Beatle People ARE the best!!! images/icons/smile.gif Peace!
