None Beatles of course images/icons/wink.gif

I don't have to think long about this one:

Sting! I've seen him a couple of times.
A great musician and he always has fantastic band to accompany him.

I've seen many concerts of all kind of music.
Two are in my mind forever.
the first was Ravi Shankar and
the second was Nusrath Fateh Ali Khan !

Oh, so many.... images/icons/smile.gif

Probably my favorite was when I saw the Kinks in 1987 at the Riviera Theatre. General admission and I was in the front row and was the first person who Ray shook hands with. images/icons/smile.gif

Also enjoyed a couple of Squeeze shows at the Vic (another small club) a lot.

The best concert I've ever seen was probably Korn/Linkin park! Actually, it's the only one I've ever seen... Not a lot of good bands come to Mèxico lately, except for Paul Mccartney last year, but I couldn't see him! How sad is that?

Besides Paul I guess I'd have to say the first time I saw Marshall Crenshaw with Rell'. He was funny, good and we were near the front of the stage.

Oooh, hmmmm....besides the Grateful Dead...(I couldn't pick out one show~ I loved them all)~~~~

I'd say the best concert I saw was Albert King, who opened for BB. Albert blew BB away, just left smokin' shoes! images/icons/wink.gif Man, what a show. For some of it, I just closed my eyes, rested my head back and absorbed every note. Amazing... EC should have been there just to kiss Albert's feet! graemlins/wink2.gif "The Grandfather of Blues" is right, Albert was that for sure.

Well besides Paul I'd have to say NSYNC cuz that's the only other real concert I've been to...

Bob Marley.

I saw him twice and it was the best concerts I ever saw.

The music was so groovy and at that time only little people knew him, it was just like the concert of his famous 1st live album.

I had never seen so much drugs any where in one place till then and no one cared, other than my dry cleaner because of the smell.

We were driving home afterwards with my then friend Cor and we had a Marley tape on and were still dancing whilst driving and on the road we were not the only ones coming from the concert.

Never to forget.

Not counting Sir Paul last year, the best concert that I ever saw was also last year...The Eagles. They sung many of their Eagles hits and a lot of their solo hits. I am a big Joe Walsh fan and he did not let me down.

I've seen Paul a couple of times, and he always puts on a great show.
The Kinks are one of my all time favorites to see live.
Some of my other favorites:

Stevie Ray Vaughn - my favorite guitar player. I was very fortunate to see him.He actually opened up for the Kinks.Great show.
The Moody Blues - Amazing band live.
Rush - Seen them about ten times.Awesome band.
Def Leppard - Saw them in '83.Opened for Billy Squire.I felt so bad for Billy that night.I don't think he knew how Def Leppard just stole the show.

What was the question again?Oh yeah, favorite concert. I guess it would have to be Stevie Ray Vaughn and the Kinks. Two of my absolute favorites in one evening.

I would have to say the best show ever, that I had the best time at, would be a band called Kings X. They were at the Cains Ballroom in Tulsa, no air conditioning in August, and I never wanted to leave. Beautiful harmonies, great music. Why they arent known by the public at large is a mystery. If you ever comes across a copy of "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska",its considered one of the best Rock LPs in the last 20 years.
I also had a blast seeing 1964-The Tribute. Lots of fun and great guys!

Since I've only been to two "real" (non-Beatle tribute band) concerts, I'd say Paul McCartney was the better of the two. Julian Lennon comes in second. graemlins/teeth1.gif

The Violent Femmes (http://www.vfemmes.com) at Toad's Place in New Haven. Gordon Gano actually smiled at me across the room! I think they'll be taking a second place to Ringo as of the 31st, though. images/icons/grin.gif

I've only ever been to one proper concert, and that was to see pianist George Winston perform live. He did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed it. He didn't wear any shoes (he had this wooly socks), which I thought was pretty cool at the time. He wasn't taking himself too seriously or anything...

I guess I don't go to many concerts because nobody I like ever comes here. Pete Best came last year and I live so close to the venue he was at (5-minute walk), but of course, I wasn't a Beatles fan then. Don't you just love irony?

I'm ignoring the no-Beatle rule here for two reasons:

1- I've only been to one 'real' concert

2- Nobody - not even God Him/Herself coming down from the skies and playing a Fender Telecaster - could take the top spot away from Paulie!

1. The Who at The SECC in Glasgow, 2001
2. Primal Scream at Glasgow Barrowlands 2002
3. Oasis at Murrayfield, 2001
4. Paul Mccartney at Liverpool 2003
5. Supergrass at Glasgow barrowlands 1996

Glasgow Barrowlands is the best venue in Glasgow by far. You can`t beat a good gig at The Barrowlands!! I`ve played at it twice as well!!

Bruce Springsteen hands down.I've seen him 10 times and every time it's been GREAT!He never lets me down.(I'm seeing him in Chicago in the 2nd row!)
Peter Gabriel comes in 2nd.
Paul comes in 3rd. The only problem with him is he plays the same line up of songs. He needs to mix it up a bit.

Well besides some awesome unsigned bands and tribute bands, and of course Macca's concert last April, I would say my favorite was the second time I saw Aerosmith.

Run DMC opened for them before Jam Master Jay passed on and though they seemed unfit for the crowd they were ten times better openers than Fuel was the last time. They performed to the whole audience not just the orchestra seating as Fuel did. Then they dueted with Aerosmith on Walk this Way which made the seamless transition from opener to main act. They played a really great show and made the audience feel like an important part of the experience which is always awesome. Of course, it helps that I also got to be within ten feet of the whole band when they passed by to get to the second stage.

KISS reunion in Albany NY. They were re-energized and playing the classic songs from their heyday. They blew the Deaftones right off the stage and out of the arena. To this day I can't think of the Deaftones or see one of their CDs in the store without remembering the stomping KISS gave them.

Saw KISS on the next tour and they blew Ecoline Crush off the stage with the same ease.

I suppose my choice will stick out a bit, but I can't deny my disco/funk obsession.

The best concert I've ever been to was Earth, Wind & Fire a few years ago. Even though I wasn't as big of a fan then as I am now, it was still incredible. They sound exactly like their recordings, even twenty or thirty years later, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the show.

Of course, the Ringo concert is coming up very shortly, and that'll take the honor away from EW&F. images/icons/grin.gif

I saw The Clash three times, '80-'81-'82. I would say the 1981 show (2nd night) at Bonds on W45th was the best!!
But my fave night of music was seeing The Mavericks in a club in Lyndhurst, NJ on March 12th, 1994. Three hours of fantastic music! I also rate it as one of the very best nights of my life. Amazing.
Never saw a Beatle, tho.

I've seen so many concerts, I can't remember all of them right now. Surprising though, the Beatles were not the best one I've been to. There have been several good ones that I've seen here in Louisiana - Barry Manilow, KISS, Nazareth, Kansas, Heart and Bob Seger to name but a few.

The #1 concert would most definitely have been from 1971 in California. No warm-up act and three encores. The group I'm talking about is Led Zeppelin. The last encore was a 20 minute rendition of "Stairway To Heaven". graemlins/rocknroll2.gif

I would have to say that the best, and my favorite was Paul McCartney, Staples Center, LA, May 4 last year! He was amazing!!! Runners up I would have to say The Moody Blues, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, and Ringo. I've seen several people in the last few years (I've been making up for lost time) but these are my favs.

It's hard to choose from so many concerts I've seen, but when I have to make to choice to see them again it would be:

1. Sting, the Brand New Day tour, last year here in Rotterdam, my home town. He was truly amazing, and I love his music (so does my wife, who was there with me).
2. Earth, Wind & Fire, also in Rotterdam in the '80's. I took a professional camera with me and the security people thought I was from the Press, so I was allowed to stand right in front of the stage. I took some amazing photo's, and was overwhelmed by the show EWF gave.
3. Also in the '80's. Stanley Clarke and Jeff Beck in Amsterdam. It was LOUD and afterwards I couldn't hear a thing for two days. But the concert was unbelievable. Two magnificent musicians (still).

Three different types of music and performers, but I love their music !!

Don't ask me to choose plz..... graemlins/shakehead2.gif

Okay, well Paul of course, I would say seeing him in 1990 was the best, it was my first Paul show and it was a dream come true. BUT, not counting Paul...
Billy Joel. I got to see him in about 85 or so, he was amazing. Ran out in the audience, just acted really crazy and cool, played for a long time.

Paul's last tour was great, and I've seen some great Dead shows, and Rickie Lee Jones close up in a pub was fantastic, another favorite was Weezer at the Troubador, some early Bruce shows have been exciting and uplifting, but I've got to say, Bruce's current tour is the BEST I've seen yet. Saw it twice already once from first level and again from the 34th row in the center. He and the E St Band just get better with age. the sound is incomparable and Bruce doesn't just cover his old songs, he sings them in a way that makes them relevent to him today and it translates to the audience that way. His sheer enthusiasm is a celebration of rock and roll. He has the greatest presense of mind as to what a live show is all about. He doesn't waste a move on stage, and always seems to say the right thing for every quirk and turn of a live show. His concert is like a Broadway play in the way the band interacts and carries on.
Man, if you get the chance to see this tour, don't pass it by.
