Wow, there are, like, three threads about this same thing! It's a great topic, though, you can't blame anyone. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Here are mine right now:
1. The Beatles (way up in the sky, an infinity beyond everyone else)
2. T. Rex and all incarnations of Marc Bolan (not the Beatles, but still up in the stratosphere)
3. The Kinks
4. The Who
5. Count Five
6. Yardbirds (with Jeff Beck)
7. Queen
8. Bob Dylan
9. Jimi Hendrix Experience
10. Every Mother's Son
I'm also really into those mod and freakbeat bands like the Creation, the Action, the Small Faces, Timebox, the Pretty Things, etc., and of course their American cousins, the Sixties garage bands. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif And the Ramones are quite good, too. I don't buy the punk philosophy or the punk aesthetic, but there's some good music there. Honorable mention: The Sex Pistols. Except for "God Save The Queen" and "Anarchy In the U.K.", their album sucks--but those two songs are *really* good.
