seeing as a buncha lesser bands have been brought up . . .
i just think these guys are swindon's answer to the fabs!
they need to be putting out another, but i digress. . ..
for those that no know,
xtc is a new wave,(ha), band that started in 1976 in swindon, england. . . .
yada yada yada, . . .
these guys are so like the boys!
their career is somewhat chaotic, but the music is unspeakable. it has evolved and grown like the world around them . . .
two of the best pop songwriters are involved, guitarist andy partridge,(the cynical, kinda john of the band), and bassist colin moulding, (the more down to earth vaudvilian(?)).
they have a slew of great lps out, anyone of which is a jewel, and the two are still going strong!, the last two records were done after a forced hiatus against virgin records which kept them from putting out any commercial material at all from 1992 until 2000, but this band is so cool!
very british i guess but i like the kinks and blur . . .
in the face of the worst they just rock!
i could go on about songs like 'making plans for nigel' or 'dear god' or 'stupidly happy'. . . heck the list just just runs. . . go listen. . .

I don't have many of their early albums, but I think I have everything from the "Dear God" era on, maybe one before that. I don't know a lot about them as people, just know their music. A local radio station played "Earn Enough For Us" when that CD was new and I just loved it - so catchy - and I've liked them ever since.
