In the same vein as the Irritants topic, but on the other side....what are some little day to day things that make you smile? Not the big happiness things like finding love or getting a great job or a new car, but little goofy stuff, like.....

I work with a lot of personal data at the office and I keep a list of weird names that I come across...Jim Shorts, Dick Wrench, Dragutin Kendl, Csongor Hollowhazy, Claire Annette...every time I get to add a weird name to my list, it makes my day! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I had a bunch of dreams the other night with friends from school who I haven't seen for about 5 or 6 years now, some even from primary school that I lost touch with over 10 years ago... and it just made me smile thinking back about all the fun times we had and the funny stuff we got up to behind the teacher's back. It's always nice to have fun dreams with people you miss or haven't seen for the longest time, almost like you're still friends & doing stuff together.

cute topic! Listening to my three year old makes me smile. Where he gets some of his ideas, I don't know. A recent example: My husband saw him kiss a little girl that we know. My husband teased him and said, "no kissin' the girls." His wide eyed response? "But Daddy, I have to. It makes them happy." I LOVE classic cars and the sight of a fully restored, mint conditioned classic really makes me feel good. Yesterday I saw a drop dead GORGEOUS 1963 red Ford Falcon Futura! Aaah, I JUST LOVE Ford Falcons!

Another heart warmer is seeing children in church. It makes me feel so good to see the little girls in their adorable dresses and the boys in their adorable little suits and ties. I also like listening to the children singing in church and taking part in the service. That makes me so happy.

Seeing somebody with a Beatle haircut and encountering Beatle people. Those are also day brighteners.

the other day i watched an old man help his wife across the street. they were so cute - when they reached the opposite corner, she reached up and placed a small kiss on his wrinkled cheek and they continued on their way. it was a beautiful moment that made my day a little brighter.

Because we live by the beach - it is rarely cold enough to have a fire in our fireplace... I love it when it is rainy and cool enough (yes, I know that my "cold" is 55 degrees - and not exactly "freezing"...) to light a fire, curl up with a book, and drink a warm mug of hot chocolate. Those moments are few and far between in my life...

I love dreams. I had a dream last night about visiting my Scotty and when I arrived at his house, he was asleep but his whole family warmly invited me inside and it was as if I was the most important person they had ever met. Then I went upstairs and woke Scotty up by kissing him all over his face. When he woke up, he couldn't stop smiling and staring at me.

That was seriously one of the best dreams I've ever had. Dreams are cool.

One time, we were on a plane to Venezuela from Canada and everyone was kinda crabby cos the plane was delayed and all these problems, well this little 4 year old saw my hat (a yellow submarine bucket hat) and started singing "We all live in a yellow submawine, yewwlo submawine." It was cute and she was singing loud enough for the entire plane to hear and it deff. helped the tension.

Something that makes my days brighter is watching my pets when they don't know that I'm looking - like when they are stretching out or bathing themselves or playing with each other. They are so cute and beautiful and I feel so proud of them. I guess it is my equivalent of seeing my chilrden play or having them say cutsie things to me or whatever because they are my babies.

Something else is when I am driving and a song I will really want to hear comes on the radio.

Something that makes me happy is hearing patriotic songs on the radio lately. I used to LOATHE that one "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free" song but now every time it comes on, I'm singing my lungs out. It's beautiful. Ah - and for me - the sunset. It has been a really hard day... I had a few minutes to myself (that's a miracle in itself) and walked over to the beach from work, sat on a big piece of driftwood, and watched the sun go down. The colors were amazing, the sounds of the ocean so soothing, and the feel of cool sand between my toes - strangely comforting. I love living here.

When I get together with "the boys" on Fri or Sat nights, we tune up the guitars, turn on the amps, and for a few hours we explore the worlds of live Beatles and other classic 60's tunes. A couple of Red Stripes doesn't hurt either.

Something that made me smile a couple of days ago was my baby daughter's first proper word.

She has always liked the theme music for The Simpsons, and when it came on TV I said to her 'It's The Simpsons!' She grinned, bounced up and down and said 'Simsons.'

A sign of the times I guess!

I thought this was so cute....I've been coming in early to work for the past 6 weeks or so, but this morning I missed my bus, so I had to wait 15 minutes or so until the next one, the one I used to take every day. When the "regulars" for the later bus got to the bus stop and saw me, they were all like "HEY!!! Where've you been? How ARE you? We were all so worried about you!" and all shaking my hand and exclaiming all over me! It was sort of embarassing, but nice!

I never thought people that I just kind of said "Good Morning" to would miss me if I went away - heck, I didn't even think they'd notice! But it was a nice feeling to know they did! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I was having a huge headache and also absolutely tired, hungry and sleepy. Plus I found out that I'm having my first exam next Saturday, only to find out later the same day that it wasn't next Saturday, but next Thursday which is even closer and I'm totally not prepared to that one so that made me feel worried.

I went to see a reunion show last night of my favorite band from the early/mid 90's. I was kind of worried how it would go since the members broke up in a pretty nasty way and haven't seen each other in years. I also heard they'd only had ONE rehearsal.

But it went GREAT. It was so much fun. Even though it might sound a little corny,
I actually look forward to going to sleep
with the couple of Purple stuffed bears
I have. There's no names for them yet--perhaps because they're not really real;
but there's some nights where it almost
seems as though they are and since I've made
them "an item" together, they somehow get
me through those nights of being depressed
that I'm single at the moment. Plus they
remind me that it's a good thing to try and
keep on top of doing what you can to keep
wildlife and other bears going in the world!
