I was immediately skeptical because most tall buildings with observation decks don't have anywhere you can stand outside so close to the edge without any fence, railings, etc. The wind is just too strong that high up. What kind of goofball makes up this kind of thing? Ugh. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsdown.gif

That is SO fake and SO SO sick!!!!!
besides all tall buildings have a railing that goes up beyond your head, like someone said, wind is too strong and it would have knockd you off, wouldn't there be a shadow under the plane for being a sunny CRYSTAL CLEAR day??

Yeah, also... if there was a plane that close and heading toward the building I don't think I'd be smiling (or even looking) at the camera!

Yes, I agree, this pic is sick...and definitely fake. Besides, how could it have been developed from a camera found at Ground Zero? They can't even find whole BODIES (sorry, I know that's graphic), how could a CAMERA survive with film intact and able to be developed? I ask you...
But for the record, Rell -- the WTC DID have an outdoor observation deck with a railing (it was actually set back several feet from the building edge, but from the perspective of a photo you could not tell that), from which you could see the whole city. Yes, it was windy up there, but the view was spectacular...and I even have pictures of myself up there on that same observation deck, outdoors. I think the last time I was up there was a long time ago, back when I went with a bunch of college friends, but I defintely have pictures from that day.
But anyway, you gotta wonder about some people if they're posting stuff like this! Ugh! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsdown.gif

Ok, cool. That's why I said "most"....didn't have any 1st hand experience with the WTC observation deck. That must have been really spectacular! Both our big observatories are all indoors.

Nipper, while I don't doubt they may have found a camera somewhere among the rubble (there was one survivor who fell from the very top with the building as it collapsed and managed to survive with 2 broken legs!) I agree with you (and everyone) completely that this photo is nothing more than someone's grim sense of humour.
Some facts to support this:

September 11 was warm and sunny, not the type of day on which a tourist would have been decked out in a winter coat and hat.

The airliner in this picture is approaching from the north and would therefore have been the one which hit the north tower of the World Trade Center (WTC1), but WTC1 did not have an outdoor observation deck. WTC2 (the south tower) included an indoor observation deck on the 107th floor and an outdoor deck above the 110th floor, but WTC1 housed only Windows on the World, an indoor restaurant with a magnificent view of the city but no outdoor deck.

The operating hours in September for the WTC2 observatories were 9:30 A.M. to 9:30 P.M., meaning they opened too late for a tourist to have been present on one before the first plane hit at 8:49 A.M.

The aircraft shown is a Boeing 757 bearing American Airline markings, but Flight 11, the only American flight to crash into the World Trade Center, was a 767. (The 767 is a wide-body jet; the 757 is a smaller, standard-body craft.)
Oh yeah, before I forget... here's another photo developed from a different camera found in the rubble at Ground Zero:

oh good lord! thats a huge cat!
whoah wait a minute, that wasn't here, wasn't there a younger man standing there with a back-pack?

Haha, yes there was. I was simply illustrating the point of how easy it is to 'doctor' such photos.

If you look directly beneath the man's hand where it goes under the cat (where the 09 is), you'll see that it is in fact the black part from the man's coat in the first pic above.

Hey guys,
This photo was apparently developed from a camera found at ground zero at the WTC
disaster. Real or not???
You be the judge...

It's amazing how fast these things fly throughout the internet. Somebody sent me this picture yesterday. Right away, another dude responded that it was fake. He explained that he zoomed in on the date stamp, and could see that it had been manually placed over the picture. Then he mentioned something about how the sun and shadows don't match up on the plane and the guy's face. But anyway, what a sick picture.

Also with those pictures the people are to the right of the picture, even though most of the time wouldn't the people be in the center, blocking the the plane?

Yeah, though in this case I think the guy wanted himself taken with the sights of the city buildings in the background. If he were standing in the middle, it would have all been blocked out.
