http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif oh my goodness, oh my goodness! i just had to share - i am so excited! my friend got tickets for one of u2's l.a. staples center shows, and i am so happy! they're definately not the beatles (i mean, who can compare?), but they are a huge favorite (favorito/favourite - for some of you http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif )of mine! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif

i'm not sure whether or not there are any u2 fans here - but if there are, has anyone had the chance to catch their elevation tour this year, or hear any reviews of it?

thanks for bearing with me!

Hope you have a http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif good time, allie! I like U2 too, but I haven't heard or seen anything about their latest tour.

Yeah allie, one of my best friends is a HUGE U2 fan and went to two of their shows here in Chicago earlier this year. She said the shows were amazing (but honestly, she's such a big fan that if Bono just stood on stage and read the phone book for two hours, she's be happy!). I hope you have a great time!!

Allie, that's great to hear - I hope you have an awesome time! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif I managed to catch them a few years ago when they played here in Brissie on their tour Down Under, and the show was quite spectacular to say the least. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah I like pretty much all of the U2 stuff, especially from the early days like songs on "Boy", "October" and "War" and the last album "All That You Can't Leave Behind". A very special person for me is a huge fan of this band... I mean she only knows The Beatles for the "Helter Skelter" cover on "Rattle & Hum", and that's a lot to say. I love her, so I have to love U2.

Plus they are a great band. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks you guys for all of the sweet words! Yes, I am so excited for this concert! I love just about all of their music. My favorite albums are probably October and Achtung Baby... And Bono's duet with Frank Sinatra is incredible! Anyways - I just found out that one of my other friends got me the same present! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif I am so happy! Okay... thanks for listening to me go on and on... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/musicnotes.gif

OH MY GOODNESS!

I am so happy and excited - I can't sleep! I just got back from the U2 concert at the Staples Center and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! We were on the floor right next to the "heart" (the extended part of their stage for this tour) - and for more than half of the concert Bono was literally 1-2 feet away from me!

Their performance was awesome! I am just walking on air right now. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif No Doubt opened for them (they did a good job too - just not my favorite type of music).

However, here's the part you will all really appreciate... You know the fifteen/twenty minutes they use to change the stage from the opening band's set-up, to the concert set-up? Well they had been playing this funky techno, elevator music - when all of a sudden "All You Need Is Love" started playing. Of course everyone started singing along... And then - the song they used to bring the guys onstage - none other than "Sgt. Pepper"! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/dance.gif

Anyway - sorry to go on and on... I was just so excited - and had to share my happiness with all of you. What a great night!

So glad you enjoyed it, allie!! And that's great that you got such a good place to stand; it's easy to get spoiled after a show like that! I've never really gotten into U2's music (though I like a few songs), but I've never heard anyone who wasn't amazed by their stage shows! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Good one.

I like some of U2. They do have a sort of link to Beatles songs, on albums and on stage.
