Yes, I am seeking wisdom from the people in this forum...

What are your favorite drinks? My friend and I are turning twenty-one in a few weeks, and we don't know what to order!

I thought for sure, there would be some good advice here, and hopefully - you wouldn't think me too silly for asking... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/blush4.gif

I would appreciate any insight on this topic. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif

I'm not much for mixed drinks Allie, but a Fosters lager hits the spot every timehttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/smile1.gif

Ooooh, I'm the expert on this, Allie http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif. Mixed drinks, eh? I drink Vodka, OJ and Cranberry juice mixed together a lot, or just Vodka and Cranberry. Ummmm ... I also like Amaretto Sours, love the Malibu Rum and Coke, like jtal mentioned. Lemonade and Vodka is quite yummy too. There's a website on mixed drinks ... I'll see if I can find it for you http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif.

Back in my drinking days, my favorite was Tequila Sunrises. I've tried many brands of beer and MGD was the best for me. FYI, at a Beatles get-together some years back, the nightspot had a special drink just for the ocassion. They called it a "Fifth Beatle" and was made with Amaretto and Cranberry juice.

My fave drink these days is Brandy and Coke. Vodka mixes with just about any fruit juice. Just a word of warning, Allie - whatever you decide to try, don't mix your alcohols. In other words, you can drink different types of vodka drinks, or rum drinks, etc. in an evening, but it's best not to have a vodka drink, then a rum drink, an so on. If you do, you're more likely to get drunk and have a nasty hangover.

I'm not much of a beer person, but I don't mind the odd mixed drink. One of my favourites is the good ol 'Fire Engine' - vodka, lemon, lime & bitters with a splash of red cordial to give it its colour.

A good drink I've heard of is called a Zombie. I've been told it looks like lumpy chocolate milk.

It's a strange drink because you get drunk from the feet up. You could have 6 of them and still feel as sober as a judge, but as soon as you stand up to go to the toilet...

I was just wondering what are the legal drinking ages for all of you guys??

21 in the States is it? That is so weird.

Over here it is 18 but back in my day we had to wait until we were 20!! Believe me, that took the longest time to happen...not that we followed the rules anyway!

Isn't it like 16 in Germany or something crazy like that??

And allie...you can't go wrong with a good vodka, lime and lemonade! Plenty of ice required!! Although, give me almost anything (except Tequila) and I'll drink it. Last time I had a tequila shot....ummmm no actually you don't want to know what I did!!

it's also illegal to smoke in bars or resturaunts... does anyone know how many other states have made it illegal as well? i don't smoke, but was curious.

Over here you can smoke all you like in bars but not in cafes or resturants or anywhere like that. I can remember ages ago when they made McDonalds smoke free - that was a really big deal!
When I went to England I had forgotten what it was like to have smoking allowed almost everywhere I went - I guess I take it for granted that there is no smoking in eating places here.
And wow that is so weird that all the different States have different ages! That is so crazy!!!!

Smoking is illegal in restaurants in New York City, though I think in other parts of the state it's legal if you have a separate smoking section. Really small establishments can have smoking if they want, though, they are exempt from the law.

And the drinking age in New York State is 21, though it was 18 when I turned 18, then was 19 when I was already 21, so those changes didn't affect me at the time.

It's not stupid if you aren't a smoker and don't want to breathe or smell secondhand smoke when you're eating or otherwise, Jami! I'm not a smoker, and frankly, the smell of cigarette smoke makes me ill, particularly in a restaurant. I like the idea of having to take the smoking outside..it's not allowed in office buildings anymore in New York City either, not even in a separate smoking lounge, and my lungs, for one, are grateful for such laws. I've got friends who are smokers who don't even think these laws are so bad -- they can understand why non-smokers don't want to deal with their smoke...

It's interesting to see how times change. When I was a little kid, you could smoke anywhere, even in the grocery store (uggg!). I remember when they outlawed smoking in the grocery store and people were OUTRAGED! But now that's just the way things are. Then when they outlawed it in office buildings 10 or so years ago, people were OUTRAGED!! But now that's just the way things are. I wonder if this will happen with bars/restaurants eventually here too? I think it will in restaurants, but I bet they'll never outlaw smoking in bars in Illinois until I'm too old to want to go to them anymore! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Down here, smoking is not allowed in main restaurants/bars/clubs etc. Only in very few places now do they have a smoking/non smoking section, otherwise you have to go outside. I tend to agree with that as I for one have health problems triggered by breathing in second hand smoke (irregular heart beat thing).

I broke the golden rule and mixed my drinks http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/tongue5.gif .... naughty girl!

That is something I make a habit of - hitting back (and even harder) is so much fun.

Thank you for that public disgrace Jami!! Heeheeee!!! I'm sure you now all think that I am totally out of control - although some of you knew that already http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

And Darky my Sweet, you most certainly will be suprised when I tell you what happened to me on Saturday night!! Count yourself lucky that I don't have your cell phone number because you very well might have got a 5am call too!
