View Full Version : Elton John goes Beatles

Elton John has just released a new single called I Want Love.

If you listen to it you will recognize very Beatles/Lennon/Lynne sound.

The piano intro is real Lennon-like, like from Free as a bird or Real Love just to name 2.

When the band comes in, you recognize a Lynne influence by way of drum sound.

The guitars are Harrison-like, even with slide parts and solo. The finger picking way of playing the chords is also like Klaatu did on some songs.

I did not recognize Elton John's voice actually.

It has Billy Preston on electric Piano.

Have not found info yet on writer and producer, will look for that. Don't think it is Jeff, but it comes close.

Certainly worth listening to. It is on audiogalaxy.com.

P.S. Seen Tom Petty yesterday at the Tribute? What's wrong with him, he did not look quite fit to me.

http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cool2.gif that sounds interesting.

Speaking of yesterday's tribute performance, I did catch most of it, but wondered who was it that performed 'Imagine'?

I missed it most of it, but heard that Neil Young (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) sang "Imagine".

Jami - I love his music too!

Personal Elton John Favorite: "Tiny Dancer"... The whole scene in the movie Almost Famous - where they're all singing along to that song is one of the best movie moments ever. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

So, more of you heard it by now? It is on our local radio now very regular and I love it more and more and it reminds me of Real Love and Free as a bird even more now.

I heard it on the radio!!! I liked it very much, Elton's voice sounds so bright and I could swear that Ringo's playing drums in there (but I know he isn't)... The song is very Beatle-y... I really really like Elton John's music. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Is it over now?

http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thinker.gif Don't most drums sound the same?

Even a 4th generation fan http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink1.gif should be able to recognize Ringo's style. And on this song it is copied, and what I wrote about this new Paul song where it is also so Ringo-ish. So, no not even drum is played the same way.
