Forty,
I do like M*A*S*H but I prefer the movie.
Have you ever seen the lyrics to the theme?
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
[REFRAIN]:
that suicide is painlessIt brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...
[REFRAIN]
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
[REFRAIN]
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.
[REFRAIN]
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
[REFRAIN]
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
[REFRAIN]
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.

I've got another memory that involves that show too...it was right after a M*A*S*H rerun on Channel 5 in New York back in 1980 that they broke in with the news that John had been shot...

For a minute there, when I saw the subject title for this thread, I thought there was going to be a discussion about the channel 'TV Land.' But here are my favorite TV shows:
The Simpsons
7th Heaven (although I don't like this show as much as I used to)
Facts of Life
Diff'rent Strokes
The Brady Bunch
The Waltons (when I'm home, I'm able to watch this)
The Wonder Years
The Partridge Family (but I don't like this as much as I like The Brady Bunch)
All in the Family
Brooklyn Bridge (a show that was on in the early 90's, they had a syndication of it on Bravo a while ago)
Laverne and Shirley (actually, I never watch this show...I just like the theme song! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif)
That's all I can think of for now! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I had just finished a final term paper on "The Beatles' 1964 American Tour" the night of 12/8/80. My then roommate, her friend Nancy (no, not from "Rocky Raccoon) and I were listening to "Watching the Wheels" on WNEW. DJ Dennis Elsas cut the song short and made the announcement. Let's just say I took the news very hard.
This theater tech major who lived down the hall from me, Dean E.B. was one of several students who allegedly lowered the school flag to half mast. Security informed the campus at large that was a "Class A" misdemeanor (really? that's what WE were told), but fortunately they were let off the hook and the flag few at half mast for the rest of that week.
I was at Central Park on 12/14/80 for the vigil.

Shows:
All in the Family (still love those early years when Archie brayed away about Nixon and argued with Meathead)
Cheers
Cosby Show (1984-1991)
Courtship of Eddie's Father
Diff'rent Strokes
Drew Carey Show (it's a SCREAM)! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh4.gif
Family Affair
Family Ties
Get Smart (liked it as a child, don't now)
I Love Lucy
Laugh In! (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW WHEN I WAS A CHILD! I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT)!
M*A*S*H*
Monkees, the
Nanny & The Professor
NYPD Blue
Odd Couple
Smothers Brothers (I wish that still came on. It was MY FAVORITE show when I was 6)!
Taxi
20/20
48 Hours
60 Minutes

I love the Monkees that is one of the things my mom was kinda like 'Look honey watch these aren't they good, good girl likethe Monkees like the Monkees' she wanted to marry Davy Jones when she was little.
Besides the Monkees I like:
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Are you being served?
Who's line is it anyway?
The Carol Burnett Show
OLD Saturday Night Live
The Simpsons
Bewitched
The Partridge Family
I think the Simpsons is the only show I like that has new episodes unles you count SNL which isn't very funny anymore. I love 70's and 80's and some of the 90's casts but the one they have now isn't that great.

We're tiny, we're toony, we're all a little loony
And in this cartoony we're invading your TV
We're comic dispensers, we crack up all the censors
Our Tiny Toon adventures get a dose of comedy
So here's Acme Acres it's a whole wide world apart
Our home sweet home it stands along a cartoon work of art
The scripts were rejected. Expect the unexpected
On Tiny Toon Adventures it's about to start
They're furry, they're funny, they're Babs and
Buster Bunny
Montana Max has Money. Elmyra is a pain
Here's Hamton, and Plucky. Dizzy Devil's Yucky.
Furrball's unlucky, and Gogo is insane
At Acme Looniversity we earn our toon degree.
The teaching staff's been getting laughs since 1933
We're Tiny, We're Toony, We're all a little looney.
It's Tiny Toon Adventures come and join the fun
And now our song is done.
You're not the only one, Tim!

Here's another lyric
Come and ride the little train
That's rolling down the tracks to the Junction
Forget about your cares
It is time to relax at the Junction
Lots of curves you bet
And even more when you get
To the Junction
Petticoat Junction
There's a little hotel called the Shady Rest at the Junction(Petticoat Junction)
It is run by Kate, come and be her guest at the Junction(Petticoat Junction)
And there's old Uncle Joe,he's a-moving kind of slow
At the Junction!

How about this:
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of a faithful ship,
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailorman,
The skipper, brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour.
A three hour tour.
The weather started getting rough.
The tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Minnow would be lost.
The Minnow would be lost.
The ship set ground on the shore of this
Uncharted desert isle
With Gilligan, the Skipper too,
The millionaire and his wife,
The movie star, the professor and Mary Ann
Here on Gilligan's Isle!

Here's a great one:
Come and listen to my story 'bout a man named Jed,
Poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he was shootin' at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude,
Oil that is, Black gold, Texas T.
Well, the first thing you know, old Jed's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said 'Jed move away from there,'
Said 'Californy is the place you oughta be,'
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly,
Hills, that is, Swimmin' pools, movie stars.

Hey, I remember one time I was watching a show called "The List" on VH-1 (is that still on?) and they had a topic called something like, "the most memorable TV theme song"...guess what it was:
(Here's a clue, the contestants hated it, but the crowd (well, most people in the crowd cheered!)
Here it is....
Here's the story, of a lovely lady.
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.
It's the story, of a man named Brady.
Who had three boys of his own.
They were four men living all together.
Yet they were all alone.
Til the one day when the lady met this fellow,
And they knew that it was much more than hunch.
That this crew (or is it group?) must somehow form a family.
That's the way they all became The Brady Bunch.
The Brady Bunch,
The Brady Bunch,
That's the way we became The Brady Bunch!
Sorry in advance if I messed up some of the lyrics! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Here's another theme song I like. It's actually the first version. I'll post the second one after the first. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif
***First Season only***
There's a place you've got to go for learning
all you want to know about the facts of life
the facts of life.
When books are what you're there about
and looks are what you care about
the time is right,
to learn the facts of life.
When the world never seems
to be living up to your dreams
it's time you started finding out
what everything is all about
When the boys you used to hate you date,
I guess you best investigate
the facts of life you gotta get'em right
the facts of life,
the facts of life,
the facts of life
***Version Two of the theme song to the "Facts of Life."***
You take the good you take the bad
you take them both and there you have
the facts of life
the facts of life
There's a time you've got to go
and show your grow'n and now you know
the facts of life
the facts of life
When the world never seems
to be living up to your dreams
and suddenly you're finding out
the facts of life are all about you
It takes a lot to get them right
when you learning the facts of life
learning the facts of life,
learning the facts of life
[played during the ending credits]
You'll avoid a lot of damages
an enjoy the fun of managing
the facts of life;
they shed a lot of light
If you hear them from your brother,
better clear them with your mother
better get them right,
call her late at night
You got the future in the palm of your hands
all you gotta do to get you through is understand
you think you rather do without,
you will never make without the truth
the facts of life is all about you
All You Need Is Love,
Kristi

Getting away from all your worries

This week, the Beatles greatest hits album, "1", is at number forty-three on the USA album charts. "Wingspan: Hits and History" by Paul McCartney is at number twenty-five.

Actually, I always heard that it was Ozzie and Harriet who were the first TV couple to have one bed -- and considering they were married in real life, that kind of makes sense...anyone know which is correct?

Actually the first couple to share a bed on TV were Fred and Wilma Flintstone. I guess cartoons were not considered "racy" back then.

I liked the first Jazzy opening on The Flintstones.
Trivia-The Flintstones was originally sponsored by Winston cigarettes and they would have an animated Winston/Flintstones commercial during the show.;eek;
