Can I throw one at the "powers that be" at my company? After working 52 hours last week (and I'm on salary - I don't get compensated in any way for working extra hours) and 22 hours in the first two days of this week, I'm visited by a management type who tells me that it's "crunch time" and I have to work HARDER so we make sure to make our financial goals for the fiscal year (which ends 6/30).

Of course, do I see any benefits if we make said financial goals? No, it means the CEO gets a bigger bonus and I get a "thank you". And for that they want me to come in the next three Saturdays as well as work late every night? I DON'T THINK SO!

Ok, maybe this should have gone in the "Letting off steam" thread instead. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Relle,

You've come to the right place. That's JUST the ideal target for a pie flambe! You might want to get Ringo to throw some darts for you as well (remember the dart throwing thing in "A Hard Day's Night")? Aw heck, it's more fun if you throw the darts and pies at your intended targets. Relle, Pie Man just sent the pie truck your way so you can pelt those deserved parties with some fresh PIE FLAMBE!

A very special, fresh out of the fire pie for the rude receptionist at my ENT's office. This silly thing uses a particularly irritating phrase incessantly and has a very discourteous demeanor. I think she deserves a ROUND of flaming pies!

Pies to those involved in those horrendous "Schlitterbahn-bahn" commercials. Texans HATE them and so do all hapless visitors who hear and/or see these loud atrocities. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/chainsaw.gif Schlitterbahn-bahn (despite the obvious omission of one consonant) has been the target of many rude comments and their commercials belong in the cesspool. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/chainsaw.gif I think darts and pies are in order for the offending parties.

Really? Would YOU like to be disfigured? I think this is cruel and nasty, frankly...

I must agree with Tim here and say that when we throw "figurative" flaming pies at people or things that annoy us, we aren't wishing to do it LITERALLY...I mean, I posted something the other day about my husband's boss. I might not like the guy, but I don't REALLY wish harm to him.

You are certainly entitled to dislike Yoko if you wish, TheFool, but honestly, there are better ways to express it.

Only a decade? Stupid women like that sets everybody back to the damn Paleolithic Era or Old Stone Age! I hate shows like that! When I was little, I could not stand the prima donna Ginger on "Gilligan's Island" because I thought stupid crybaby, vacuous, vain and vapid women like that set terrible examples. Jackass drivers who don't know how to use a turn signal and just decide to cut you off at the last minute...

and...

Drivers who think that stop signs are now optional for some reason!! Next time I'm gonna plow straight into them with the tuna-boat I currently call my car.

Oh, yeah, and lest I forget...another pie for the parents down the block from me who cannot control their 2-year-old the minute they walk out of the house. The kid ran STRAIGHT into the street on Friday and was in the middle of the road by the time Mommy caught up with him! If I had been 5 seconds ahead of myself, the kid would have gotten hit by my car!

Isn't it insane?! The thing that's even more insane is that there's parents at the school I work at that let their kids run straight into the parking lot when they pick them up at the end of the day. Parking lots are bad enough, but the college kids around there will fly through the lot at 40MPH, and you KNOW they're not looking out for stray kids!

I wish people wouldn't chat on cell phones while driving on the freeway. I narrowly missed being hit by some kook chatting away, oblivious to traffic.

In some states it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while operating a vehicle. I wish that was a worldwide law. This pie is for the cell phone chatting driver who narrowly missed me on the freeway.

A pie in the face for a co-worker who made wise cracks when George died and another pie for another co-worker who keeps making negative comments on the phone which is damned distracting and irritating to the folks who sit near him.

Hey, duck! This pie's for you! (my co-worker)

As for the co-worker who dissed George, I'm glad he's going to another department and working the late shift 12:00 - 9:00.
