What do you think on this situation with Frank de Boer and Edgar Davies, especially if the 'B' tests come up positive for nandrolone? Also i heard there may be other national team players involved.

I don't think they'd stand a chance of qualifying for the World Cup, that's for starters.

For starters, there have been various other players, maily Italian, where this has been discovered since mid 2000.
Now, there are some Dutch, we ofcourse do some research but as far as I know, there has not been any source identified. What is suggested is that it may have come in through meat/food, meat e.g. because of foot & mouth.
But also some vitamin pills may have caused this high percentage.
What I think of it; well, looking at Davids, with the glasses always on (remember Maradonna's eyes?) I would not know but Frank De Boer is not a person who needs thinks like that.
It is becoming banana's these tests. We all know about the cycling I guess, but what happened here in the Netherlands some time ago is that a goalie/keeper got a 4 month suspension (is that correct english?) cause he also was tested positive for something which was in a simple medicine for a cold, which people can buy just anywher. A goalie !!!! Why should a goalie take additional stuff, to be able to run faster from left to right, or jump 3 meters high?
It's all becoming a little silly.

OK, so talking about soccer (I'm amazed at the number of fans we have here), here's a question: who's going to win the European Champions League: Valencia or Bayern Munich?
IMHO, Valencia. It's a great, great team.
And please let's not start talking about the World Cup Qualifying, because I know Chile isn't going very well... And I think we'll miss Korea/Japan 2002... It doesn't matter, though, because of the time difference... Every match will be, for us, at 2:00 or 5:00 in the morning http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/sleep1.gif so I guess we're letting others (like Ecuador) having the opportunity to be there. We were there in France 1998... What's the use of going to another World Cup? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

They have always been labelled as the 'Brazilians of Europe' and rightly so for their skill level and the way they play, though it has been very disappointing to see them fall over in a heap during the latter stages of big tournaments. Their best result in a World Cup was 3rd, so hopefully soon they can go all the way. I'm also certain that if the civil war didn't take place in Yugoslavia and it was still all the one country, they would have gone all the way at France 98 after Croatia's 3rd placing there, and Yugoslavia's unlucky exit to Holland (damn that penalty miss!)

Oh man, what a joke the qualifying has been for us so far. We started it off with a 22-0 win over Tonga, then beat American Samoa 31-0, and followed that up with 11-0 against Samoa. So now Australia has, after 4 games, a goals for-and-against of 66-0. That's not soccer, not even rugby! More close to a cricket score. I'm glad FIFA sat up and took notice now cause the games have been mismatched in our groupings for quite some time, so there will definitely be changes made to the system after that.

Yes, very true. Prosinecki, Dragan Stojkovic, Dejan Savicevic, Vladimir Jugovic and Darko Pancev just to name a few... all great players, especially through the late 80s/early 90s - all played for Red Star when they won the European Cup and World Club championship in 1991 (I was fortunate enough to meet AND train with them shortly before this - highlight of my life!), as well as for Yugoslavia when they won the World Youth Cup back in 1979.

We'll have to qualify first of course, but we should do so along with Russia in our group (Slovenia is the other threat, Switzerland isn't doing too badly either). Croatia, on the other hand, is in a very similar position. They should go through with Scotland, but will have to tussle with Belgium for the other spot.

You really think it'll be Ecuador? I think they might finish 4th (they beat Brazil 1-0) and Colombia will finish 5th. Here's the current standings, after 12 games, for the South American qualifying group:
1. Argentina - 29 pts
2. Paraguay - 23 pts
3. Ecuador - 22 pts
4. Brazil - 21 pts
5. Colombia - 19 pts
6. Uruguay - 18 pts
7. Peru - 12 pts
8. Chile - 10 pts
9. Bolivia - 10 pts
10. Venezuela - 4 pts
It's very disappointing to see Chile so far behind, they are a superb team and have some wonderful talent. I really hope they can catch up and make a good fight for those top 5 places.
