How many of you watch the show, Survivor?? I just love it sooooooo much! I didn't watch it last season, but I'm so into it this go'round! Don't you think that guy Colby is just so hot?? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/drool.gif (I don't expect the guys to comment on him!). But what about Elisabeth?? How adorable is she?? If we continue to talk about this subeject, Nowhere Man and Lucy can't look at some of the stuff we talk about, since you guys are several shows behind! What does everyone think of the show??

Ohhhhh please be careful when you make comments here!!! Like Jami said, we are rather behind down here and I remember last time it was the ultimate mission trying not to discover it was Richard that won.....I almost had to lock myself up from all media resources for about a month.
I love the show so much so PLEASE make sure you give plenty of warning if it is going to be dangerous for me to read on......

I really enjoy that show too, it's panning out quite interestingly... I felt so sorry for them all when they just about lost ALL their food and everything else that was swept away by that flood! Actually Jami, we're only ever one episode behind down here... I'm not sure how it is in NZ though. Did you ever watch "The Mole" while it was on? I like that also, we just got done with the second series of that here.

Okay, I understand now about the differences in the shows for you and Luce. Lucy is much further behind than we are.

I've watched The Mole a few times, but I never really got into it. I liked Temptation Island, though. I know you and Lucy watched that one as well. I think it was sort of a cheesy show, though. But the more cheesy, the better! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

It's campy... very campy. I don't believe a word of it, it all seems extremely scripted, which pulls from it's "spontanious" presentation. Unfortunately, I have customers in the bar who want to watch it, but I can usually find something to keep myself busy while it's playing. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsdown.gif

They did the thing they told us never to do in Boy Scouts, set up camp in a dry creek bed! How moronic can you get? You know it's 100% scripted, they aren't in any real danger at all! They wouldn't let their cameraman and host get anywhere near starvation!

How anyone can stand it is beyond me.

Which doesn't change the fact that it wasn't scripted. Of course anything that happens they will find some way to exaggerate it, and anything that doesn't they'll edit it out. They wouldn't get high ratings otherwise. But you have to acknowledge the fact that parts of it are pretty real.

It's still scripted... There is absolutely no way any company would risk that much money on a show without doing something to guarantee viewers... I'm not saying the arm-burning was intended, but they sure included it, didn't they? And there is no danger of anyone starving to death or any other such nonsense... heck, the crew outnumber the cast by at least 3 to 1, and let me assure you, somebody's got some groceries handy.

Yeah, I'm not saying the show itself isn't scripted - for all we know the people on there could be Aussies with pretty decent American accents. It's not like we're not used to hearing them or anything with 3/4 of the shows down here being American.

I'll admit I started watching it...but I think there is one basic problem with shows like "Survivor" and "The Real World" or for that matter any show that has people try to act natural in front of a camera...it's just that. Camera's were made for actors. Not real people to act Naturally. I mean...yes they are trying...but if the camera's were gone things wouldn't be the same...it would then be real.
I think the people who go on those shows are annoying. I was watching one of those shows where they set someone up on a blind date and then tape how it goes...well ya know what? It would have went differantly without the camera watching.
That's just the way I feel. But I know it doesn't really matter...lotsa people love it. And I'm happy for all who do. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Ahh there's a ton of similar shows, you're right about that... Castaway, Shipwrecked, Temptation Island even... and a bunch more out there that were too stupid enough to remember.
