Has anyone here ever heard of reverse speech? I discovered it from the website http://www.reversespeech.com and I'm amazed at some of the things there. Basically when you say something forwards, your subconscious says your true meanings backwards at the same time. These can be heard by simply reversing a track of recorded speech. NOTE: This should be confused with backward masking like at the end of Rain. This is not reverse speech as backward masking is intentional.

I am seriously considering doing a website with soundbytes of all reversals found in songs. I've got a few in songs of the Beatles and a couple from Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, but that's it. Does anyone know of any more?

The one's I've found so far are:

BEATLES
-------

Help - I never needed... : We need a member
Help - I know that I just need you like... : Now he uses marijuana
Mr. Kite - For the benefit of Mr. Kite... : Now I can sing better than ever

Plus all the PiD reversals we know and love

Led Zeppelin
------------

Very end of Stairway to Heaven - "And she's buying a stairway to heaven". : Play backwards, hear words sung.

And the spookiest:

Stairway to Heaven - "If theres a bristle in your hedgerow dont be alarmed now
it's just a spring clean for the May queen
Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run
there's still time to change the road you're on." - It's my sweet satan. The one little path would make me sad whose power is fake. He is a real sick, sad satan. There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad satan.

What I was wondering was if any one knew of any reversals in any song at all? I really need as many as possible before I can even contemplate maknig this website. Can anyone help?

Harb! OMG, this is cool! There's one for Daydream Believer (the Monkees) but I don't remember what it is! I just know that if you play the part "cheer up sleepy jean, oh what can it mean" backwards, it says something else. I wish I could remember! I'll try it out on my computer when I get home tonight and let ya know!

Ok just kidding, I don't have to wait til I get home cuz I just remembered now.

Daydream Believer: "Cheer up sleepy jean, oh what can it mean"
Backwards: "Pleeeeeeease give me some inspiration"

It really does sound like it, too!

Weird Al Yankovic has included backwards messages in two of his songs:

1) On the album "In 3-D", a little over halfway through the song "Nature Trail To Hell", there is a short non-vocal musical score. If you listen very carefully, you can hear Al say, in a very evil voice, "Satan eats cheese whiz" backwards.

2) On "Bad Hair Day", near the end of "I Remember Larry" where he repeatedly sings "Yes, I remember, remember, remember...", if you listen closely you can catch another backwards message that says, "Wow, you must really have a lot of free time on your hands".

Maybe he was referring to you, Harb. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

There's another couple I just found in Beatle songs:

With a Little Help From My Friends
----------------------------------

Billy Shears - Fish is dead
(fish - bass - bass player - Paul???)

Glass Onion
-----------

The walrus was Paul - Paul was the walrus

I know "Black Dog" from the "Zofo" album has some reverse speech on it, as well. Not sure where, exactly, but it's there. Try around the area where he sings about the, "Big-legged woman ain't got no soul...". I found it a long time ago. It's more about... you guessed it - Satan! :devil7:

Very cool idea, btw!

Also... on "Stairway", I always heard it as, "There was a little path, walked it, made me sad - the power of Satan". But, then again, what do I know... other than the hair stood up on my ams as I played it backwards, and I swore I'd never do it again! :afraid2:

Wow! Resurrection of an old thread! Yay!

I remember hearing about one on Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and it was something like "we smoke marijuana".

Wow! Resurrection of an old thread! Yay!

I remember hearing about one on Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and it was something like "we smoke marijuana".

It was "Decide to smoke marijuana".

It was "Decide to smoke marijuana".

That's right! I knew it had marijuana slipped in there some way or another!

Not trying to be funny (I'm very anti-pot); I'm almost positive the message said, 'it's fun to smoke marijuana'.

No worries, I didn't take it that seriously.
