Let's talk about our favorite vacations we've been on, or the one's we will be going on soon! Or we can talk about where we would like to go!
I've just made my plans to go to Florida this July. Every summer we go to Destin, Florida http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/fish.gif I can't wait!
Although, my favorite trips would have to be a toss up between 3 places..... New York, Hawaii, and Colorado (for snow skiing). I think I liked New York the best! I reeeeeeally want to go to England badly! But to get me on a plane for that long is a major ordeal!
What about you guys? Where are you going, or where would you like to go?

Good topic, Jami! I'm currently hoping to go to England in August or September, but the airfares are really high right now. I've been there 9 or 10 (I actually lost count!) times before, but it's been a couple years since the last trip.
My last "real" vacation was a trip to New York City two years ago, which I loved! I love to walk, shop, eat and go to museums, so that was right up my alley!
My last mini-vacation was a long weekend in St. Louis, which I plan to do again at the end of April. Mostly I'm going down there to see a friend's band and celebrate another friend's birthday, but any weekend away counts!

Hmmph, don't plan on no more vacations for a looong time! Kat and I actually managed a vacation at the same time back in Sept 99... and before the week was over, the warehouse where he'd worked for over 11 years shut its doors for good, and within 2 weeks of going back to work myself, a disagreement over the amount of my own vac check left me holding a cup of coffee and a bunch of useless t-shirts...
But it was fun while it lasted http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rolling.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rotate.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rolling.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rotate.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rolling.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rotate.gif

The furthest from Utah I've been is Philadelphia, but i LOVED it. I love the east, I wanna live there after I graduate. Only three years, WOOHOO!
I'd also really love to visit England.

Nearly every year me and the family go to Newquay which is about 80 miles away from where we live. It's not that far away I know, but I love it. So peaceful and quiet, plus the Beatles filmed some of MMT there! I love living in one of the one places in the world where they filmed MMT. They mainly filmed it in Devon and Cornwall.

My trip to the US (Indiana mainly) last July was fabulous. I'm hoping to go back this Christmas, hopefully it'll be a white one and I'll see it snowing - something I've never seen before. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Well, then quit being so selfish and send some our way! We never get enough for it to get annoying down here! (Two actual snow-events in 15 years?? Hardly what I'd call annoying, LOL!) I mean, we only got enough this last time to make a decent snowman's head!

The thing I find disconcerting is that nobody thinks the traffic laws apply to THEM! Speed limit is 55, I go 65 and people are swearing at me and giving me the finger because I'm not speeding fast enough! People are also fond of running red lights and (YIKES!) making right turns in front of buses which don't accelerate fast enough when the light turns green. Maniacs!!

I'm reviving this topic because I'm soooo excited!!! I just got my plane reservations for England yesterday!! I'm going from August 23 - Sept 3 and hope to check out some of the Beatle Week festivities in Liverpool as well as spend a week in London. One of my friends travelling with me has never been there before, so I'm looking forward to showing her all the sights! We almost gave up on the airfares going down, but managed to get one around $600, so that's not bad at all. I haven't had a full week off from work in over two years, so I can't wait!!!
I didn't have a very good weekend, but this cheers me up tremendously!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Yeah, but I once had a teacher point out to me that unless we were Native Americans, we didn't speak American either!!! I think it was H.L. Mencken who said that Americans and British were two peoples divided by a common language...and considering we sometimes need translations to understand each other, he was probably right!

I will definitely give a full report! It'll actually be my 9th or 10th trip (remember, I'm old), but I haven't been there in 4 years, so I'm really looking forward to it. Has anyone gone recently (or does anyone live there) who could steer me to any new must-see sights?

Vacations - not much, When I was a kid I visited my grandparents in Florida a few times. Got to swim in the ocian. Went to Washington. Got to see some of Seattle. As an adult (if I am one) went to the mountains in Wyoming. Visited the famouse indian battle sights like the Little Big Horn in Montana. (Custers last stand) Exciting for me. We go see my son in Minneapolis at least once a year. See big time college football there. Ohio St and Penn St. -vs- Minnisota. I like college better than pro. I want to go to the Netherlands and have Flipshot (name is probably wrong, but close) take me window shoppping and to the hash bars in Amsterdam. England would be interesting to see. Reality will probably be Minneaplois.

Hey 4GF: If you want to know anything about Chicago, let me know! I'm a big fan of my adopted city! I hope you enjoy the concert; I'd heard of that show, but it didn't really seem like my thing. I think it's downtown at the Taste of Chicago, which is sort of fun, but super crowded. If you go to a concert there, expect to sit REALLY far away. And then there's always the joy of porta-potties (ugh!).
I also lived in Ann Arbor for 2 years some time ago - all I remember about it was that there was a great ice cream parlor and a wonderful vegetarian restaurant...I wonder if they're still there?
The tribute band thing I'm hoping to go to Sunday has three bands - two local tribute bands (one decent and the other I've never seen before) and 1964 (ok, but I think they're very overrated), but the funniest thing is that they're going to have guys dressed like the Beatles jumping out of airplanes - "The Flying Beatles"! Is this the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard of??? It's so insane and surreal!

Hi all! I'm in London, taking a quick break from an extremely hectic vacation! Please excuse all typing errors, as I have only 6 minutes remaining at the internet cafe! Hope all is well with everybody! The two days spent in Liverpool were GREAT! I had live band overdose - three of the bands I saw were excellent, a few more were good and a couple were downright scary! (Bad, that is!) The people were so wonderful and the hotel was so old and cool! The weather is beautiful here and we're going to spend the next 5 days doing touristy stuff, shopping and eating! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif
