For me the Dark Horse tours, Bangla Desh was an historic event ofcourse but if I am allowed to be narrow minded, I want to hear George as much as posible. Why then not Live in Japan, well the songs on the cd sounds to steriel to me, a note for note copy of the songs from the albums.

George seemed to have a good time during the Dark Horse tours, I really want to see him perform back then during one of these shows. It seems more spontanious, and I don't believe the critics when they say the tour wasn't any good, audience didn't applaud, I read and heard from bootlegs that that wasn't the case at all.

I went for the '74 tour also. For the reasons Legs said. images/icons/smile.gif

Although on the Japan tour, George was definitely in top shape.

I picked the Concert For Bangla Desh. It was the first charity concert ever staged. The artists that performed at Madison Sqaure Garden did a superb job.

It's a toss-up...

The Bangla-Desh gig was obviously more than just a concert, it was an "event"... and you had the likes of Dylan and so on, also cool to have two of the fabs on one stage at the same time...

But I went for the Japan tour, because:

1. The songs cover more of George's career...

2. More George songs than at the Bangla-Desh gig.

This was very hard, I thought about it for some time.

Bangla Desh is so special, because of those who later still were/are his friends.. compare the line up with the Concert For George and conclude. Also, for the event itself.. the cause. It would have also been at a time where I was so so proud of George, for coming out of this unique band the way he did.

The Dark Horse tour would have been great too.. touring the US .. wow..yeah that would have been something..

However I voted for Live In Japan. It's more recent, much more of his own songs in the concert... I love George a lot in that period in general for some reason .. the material played.. yeah.. for some reason that's the one.

It's interesting to see the results~ it is a very very even split of votes!

I picked Japan, for similar reasons to FPSHOT - the time period and the material. I would have loved to have been able to go to any of them though in all honesty, but if I have to pick I'll go with Japan.

Very hard choice, but I said the Japan tour for all of the reasons already said.

Really though, I would have been very happy to have seen any of them!

Actually I was lucky enough to have seen George several times - three times with the Fabs (Forest Hills '64, Shea '65 & '66), Bangla Desh, Dark Horse Tour (went to both shows!), and at the "Bob-Fest" (Dylan's 50th birthday).

That's one advantage of being old! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif (Hmmm, maybe the only advantage now that I think of it! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yawn1.gif)
