I watched the whole concert first and the opening Indian section is just breath-taking!!
I wasn't planning on buying the cd release, figuring that most tribute cds are found lacking. But I may have to get this just for disc one. I wish I could find the words!!
I sent the kids to bed, turned down the lights and fired up the DVD. George must've been smiling down on them last year. I know I am right now!!

Yeah the Indian part is just fantastic, must say that yesterday actually I played that part even more than Disc 2.
Amazing performance by all of them, also in the film, "Sarve Shaam" just makes you want to sing or humn along, it is so so inspiring.
Anoushka and her "Your Eyes" , I think she is a fantastic performer, of course having had the best teacher one can have, even though in a Shankar Documentary Anoushka pointed out that for her, as 'the daughter of ...' it was even more difficult in het study times.
"The Inner Light" well some big ovation for Jeff. Whatever one may think of his vocals on stage, he sure did a great performance of this song, but also here, the wall of sound from the Indian players, so powerfull.. and Eric Clapton playing a sitar-ish solo on his guitar...
Arpan - just one of the two highlights for me from the concert. Just brilliant.

As for the lyrics/words to the Indian section of the concert, I wrote an e-mail to the Shankar Organisation tonight, asking for any information as to how to get the lyrics/words, or even better, just get it graemlins/laugh5.gif
Of course I didn't write it like that.

The music is really beautiful, so far it's the cd I have played the most to.
As you said in another topic FPSHOT, the Inner Light sounds so much richer with the live instruments, beautiful version indeed.

I loved when they showed Ravi teaching the music to everyone. At first I said to myself, "I bet he doesn't write anything down." And sure enough, that's what he said. What a musical genious...just magical music. A bit too long, but still amazing. images/icons/smile.gif

yeah, it's not too long for me, maybe it will grow on you, the Bangla Desh opening was also something I used to skip, but already for a long time I love playing that too and hear Ravi say with his peaceful loving voice 'Friends'

This is what you said,
The concert performance is wonderful, the shehnai and flute part is just great, the sitar, tablas. Always loved this song and this new life performance (first ever I think) is just great.
<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">The instruments sounds so much fuller, don't know how to say it in proper Englisch. I already loved the original version but the way this live version is done blows me away.
I really love the other songs from the other Indian section to, no matter how long they lasted. The singing for me I admit I have to get used to, but again the music is really beautiful and I already love it, no need to let it grow on me, it already has.

I thought the Indian Part was just brilliant!!! I had skipped it at first, but I watched the Inner Light clip on Windows Media player and I fell in love with it. When I listened to the Indian part for the first time completely through, I felt just speechless. I felt really familiar to it for some reason, like it connected with my spirit or something. It was a wierd feeling. Anybody else feel like that? I know that seems kind of different but that is the only way I can explain it.
