Haven't finished watching it all. But enjoying everything I've seen so far....including Tom Petty, who I thought didn't do Taxman any favors.

I've watched both discs and I love it! You get everything on it. The movie w/ the commentaries and other footage and the concert in its entirety. And the interviews are also great. Though, I wonder why Eric Idle wasn't interviewed, like Michael Palin was. I mean, Eric and George were good friends. Maybe Eric wasn't up to it? graemlins/images/icons/confused.gif That was a cute story about Ringo scaring Dhani off of playing drums forever. graemlins/laugh5.gif The ending always makes me graemlins/cry4.gif , when Joe Brown sings I'll See You In My Dreams, with the rose petals falling from the ceiling of RAH. It's a dvd I will cherish forever. It's very special. It's hard to nail down a favorite scene, per'say. I love the way Eric C. sings Beware Of Darkness (it gives me the chills) and Paul does an excellent job w/ ATMP. And Eric C.'s guitar solo on WMGGW. Omg! He sure as hell gave it his all on that. Par excell'ance! Bravo!! graemlins/clap2.gif It's almost as if he was in a trance during the last solo of that song. Yay, Eric! What love he has for George! images/icons/smile.gif And Ringo does bring in a ray of sunshine, making everyone on stage smile, while he's performing. Ringo is so-o-o great. I even saw a woman in the audience wearing a t-shirt that said in big letters "RINGO". Did she know this was a Concert For George? graemlins/thinker.gif Hee! Lovely collection. I LOVE IT! As I knew I would. images/icons/wink.gif

This was such a great DVD! I started graemlins/cry2.gif at the end like Magill. I thought Tom Petty did a horrid job on Taxman and I Need You. He ruined those songs I think. I can't stand his voice!!! But back to George, I really wished Dhani had sung a song by himself. I really loved Something, how Paul started on the uk. and then Eric came in with the guitars, I thought that was awesome! It was such a great show!! And the first part, the Indian part was amazing. I hope everyone gets a chance to see it!

I agree with what Magill has said! It's such a special DVD... it's truly beautiful, I love every minute of it, even though the end does make me cry.
Really, every performance was amazing.

While done in the Tom Petty nasily style, it just sounds bad! Did Eric actually hear Tom sing this during rehearsal and give him the ol' graemlins/thumbsup1.gif ? Yeesh! I wonder...

Tom Petty indeed was not maybe what one would expect, but still, that's Tom and his vocals sometimes, sliding all over.
Still much better than what I hear on the CD, what the heck have they done to "That's The Way It Goes", then I prefer an hour of Petty in stead.
I recognized Tom Hanks, also from the pre-stories I knew he was there. He was on a movie yesterday on TV and I said to my girls "hey I saw his butt last week" graemlins/laugh5.gif
Yet, apart from some of those less attractive things, the concert was absolutely shivers all over.
George was just so so good, that's why every cover is .. well.. not George graemlins/smile1.gif

I haven't had the pleasure of being able to hear or watch the CD or DVD yet but I haven't heard too many great comments about Tom Petty doing George. And hmmmm, lets see; he sounds dreadful and looks like death warmed over, so people have said. I guess I'm in for a real treat then? images/icons/wink.gif graemlins/laugh5.gif
Oh well, Tom's Tom and I love him anyway. images/icons/smile.gif
I have heard his version of I Need You. I didn't think he sounded too bad there. But it was a while ago I heard it.
But nobody can do George like, well, George.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Sadly, we never saw Tom's bum. It was the other 60-something year old Pythons saggy bums that we saw. Although, Eric's (Idle) looked pretty good from where I was sitting. graemlins/laugh5.gif

Even the complete DVD isn't complete! Eric accidently called Dhani George's wife, so two comments about that were deleted. I think there's other stuff people have pointed out...but it can all be found on the audience recording circulating amongst collectors (like myself).
Still a wonderful DVD though!
