These interviews are so priceless. Talks with George's gardening friends.

Thanks for that HC.<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Your welcome images/icons/smile.gif I had not seen these before (maybe just missed them?) and thought these accounts were precious. I can see George in the old car with his goggles...or up on this high scaffolding, having a time! images/icons/smile.gif I would lose my fear of heights to be up there with him! images/icons/wink.gif

This is the kind of thing that brightens up your day and gives you a rare "private" glimpse of George.

Thank you, Hari's Chick. graemlins/smile1.gif

I think I remember first reading these just shortly after George died, before I joined the Links, and couldn't remember where I'd seen them.

I'm glad someone put these on their George website and again glad you posted them for us! images/icons/smile.gif

Those are great stories. Reminds me of the transcript of an interview with Dhani I read on georgeharrison.com. He mentioned how his dad would garden til dark, and the difficult time they had getting him in the house when it was time to do some recording! Maybe I'm too sentimental, but I just wanted to both laugh and cry!

I admit I never understood wanting to cry graemlins/images/icons/confused.gif graemlins/thinker.gif but I readily understand wanting to laugh!

George had a brilliant, subtle and sometimes acerbic wit. He never missed his mark!

I think George was in some ways like his beloved gardens. Nurtured, developed and naturally beautiful and a source of joy.

I can understand the tears bit. Sometimes when I read these George stories I find it a bit teary when I think that there won't be any more of these stories. Also they make me miss him more. Maybe I'm sentimental too. images/icons/smile.gif

I hate to cry and it makes me sad to think that there ain't gonna be no more stories...I know what you mean about missing him more.

At the fest this year, I was all set to read a George poem, but I could only get 2/3 of the way there. It's been ages since I've been so embarrassed.

Thinking about his little oddities makes him all the dearer to me. I love your comparison with the gardens, Beatlebangs. I'm a gardener myself, though not as much as George, and those images are really poignant. He cultivated himself and became a source of beauty and joy, just like you said.
