Here's a story which came on Abbey Road's Newspage today about the content of the DVD package;

"Got some info from a DJ pal of mine who has gotten copies of a CD Sampler of the Concert for George, as well as a DVD "sampler." Here is the info he shared:

There are 4 tracks on the CD Sampler:

'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' (Paul & Eric C)

'Photograph' (Ringo)

'I Need You' (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers)

'Handle With Care' (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers w/Jeff Lynne & Dhani)

The DVD sampler is listed as "For Screening Purposes Only' and contains the 30-page booklet that will accompany the full DVD. The booklet is beautiful, and contains many cool picures of George, as well as stills from the 'Concert For George' film and many written tributes to George. The DVD runs 20 minutes."

Wow, a 30 pages booklet, that's amazing. I have the Concert For George booklet and that already is very nice, but I do wonder what we'll find in this booklet; written tributes must be fantastic to have.

There is a report on Abbey Road's newspage from a fan saying "The ending guitar solo is severely edited. They run through the chord progression only once. If I recall correctly, the band ran through the progression three or four times in the actual performance."

I sure hope that won't be the case.

Sounds like it will all be a great package! images/icons/smile.gif The booklet will definitely be a great keeper. Thanks for that, FP.

Maybe us Dutch have the Beatlelinks Premiere of the CD.

Legs just called me, he is at a Beatles Fare today, I unfortunately could not join him, but the CD is for sale there so he bought two of which one for me.

Legs will probably write something about the content and I may add some things when I receive it Tuesday.

Legs, sorry again I could not join you at last minute, but thanks so much.

Horse to the water by Sam brown is missing, for her performance you need the DvD, and on this cd "Wah Wah" and "That's The Way It Goes" is included but not on the Concert for George film, so you'll need both, also to listen to some sons in full without the talking.

I've made some mp3's to listen to them, still working on the stereo, Anoushka's set is wonderfull, I have put up an mp 3 for The Inner light.

Legs, how long is each disc? Would "Horse to the Water" have fit? If not, I would've taken something else off, I really liked her version.

The first disc however isn't even 40 minutes long.

Sorry FPSHOT but Arpan is way to long for me to upload.

But maybe they wanted to separte the eastern, indian songs by Anoushka and Ravi from the rest of the set, for one reason or the other.

Legs, thanks so much for The Inner Light, what a great sound and it brings back the memory of the film.

Arpan - yeah I understand, I will have the CD tomorrow anyway.

I got both the CD and DVD today, but I was a little disappointed with one thing about the DVD--the "PUSH" buttons. The discs are freakin' impossible to get out! I think I'll need to get another copy since my disc two looks pretty scratched. images/icons/frown.gif

I hate that when they get stuck though, i always feel like i'm going to end up busting the disc! Which is actually quite hard to do...

at the store they weren't even on display (CfG or LIBN)... but the clerk explained that they had been "flying off the shelves" so fast that they couldn't keep up anyway and were reduced to having to give them to customers upon request. I have to admit I didn't expect that kind of answer.

a side-note- my mother had bought the DVD during a work break and brought it back to her work for everyone to gock at. on the inside of the DVD booklet there is a picture of Eric with Dhani; however, my mother's workmates were apparently shocked by how young *George* looked in the picture compared to Eric... images/icons/smile.gif
[[Insert George/Dhani look-alike cliche here]]

On the technical side, it is clear that there are parts added and changed, guitar parts and orchestral parts, but then that also happened on Bangla Desh.

The manager of Sam Brown's website confirmed that Sam's performance was left off the CD because there was not enough room to fit the track into the running time and cuts had to be made.

Seems very strange to me...

By the way, I too had a HARD TIME getting the disc's out of the button holder of the CD & DVD package...well anyway,I was playing the CD this morning (the Indian part) and my neighbor was passing by (my window was open) and she could hear the music playing. She knocked on my door and asked who was playing it and I told her and she just LOVED IT!!! My neighbor Nemy is from
Shrilaka (sp?) my god she was IMPRESSED w/ the muscians playing, so I played the DVD w/ Anouska playing the sitar and it totally blew her away!!!

So I'm going to burn a copy of the CD for her...just thought I'd share this story w/ you guys...

Donna~
