Just wanted to mention that there's a vote for stars of the 1960s that has been going on for a while, and that George is in the final round even though The Beatles as a group have been knocked out. We really need some votes for Geo so that Cliff Richard, Billy Fury and the Beach Boys don't win instead of him, so if you haven't voted, *please* do!

This actually doesn't have anything to do with George or the Beatles but I'm not sure what forum it should be placed. Well anyways, I went to the website and voted for George and I noticed Dave Dee & Co. on the list, which brought back some memories. When I was in Munich, Germany in 1967 I saw this group in concert. The real name of the group was Dave Dee,Dozy,Beaky,Mick and Tich. I have one of their albums somewhere in my attic. They had a few things in common with The Beatles they were British (from Salisbury Wiltshire) and they performed in Hamburg Germany early in their career. The only two songs that they did that I can remember were 'Hold Tight' & 'Bend It'. I looked them up on allmusic.com and found out an interesting fact about Dave Dee whose real last name was Harmon. In 1960 he was a policeman who was at the scene of the accident that took the life of Eddie Cochran and injured Gene Vincent. He took Cochrans guitar and held it until it could be returned to the family. That guitar today is probably in the Rock and Roll Hall OF Fame or a Hard Rock Cafe.

Ta for voting, I have my fingers crossed for him.

I *love* Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Titch, I missed them first time round, but I try and get to their "reunion" gigs as much as possible. Still a cracking little band with some fabulous music. I'd recommend them to anyone into 60s beat music. Much prefer them to The Hollies whom everyone raves about. Same style, but just with more kick. images/icons/smile.gif

And perhaps the Geo section is kind of a section for mentioning The Beatles' peers as Geo was always the one in the group who spent the sixties trying to tell people there was some really cracking music out there and that people should open their minds and let other things in. I was very tunnel-visioned about music when I got into The beatles, but I kept hearing Geo say this in interviews and eventually I decided to listen to things by their mates or things they said they liked and found some amazing music. So if it weren't for Georgie I'd be enjoying my Beatle records but missing out on some really cool music.

love, moons and starrs,

I really wanted to vote for Georgie & graemlins/help.gif *him win,but on that vote site,I got this message:

Sadly due to reasons of people voting more than once and I have currently stop the poll.

I'm looking at trying to stop this happening and spoiling what has been fun for many people.

If some people cheat then in the end that person cheats both the fans and the person they are voting for.

The final poll will re-start soon, I'm sorry to those fans who were playing by the rules but by doing this it will in the end be more fair for all.

I think this topic should be in a general Forum, but since the voting has stopped, I will just leave it here.

Dave Dee, Dozy, Bicky Micky and Tichy is a great band, I had all their singles (small round records)

Ahhh yes.... this group are fantastic and I :heart1: Dave Dee! I'll always have fond memories of his 1968 performance of 'The Legend of Xanadu' on Top of the Pops. The way he cracked that whip was just WOW! :eyebrows:
