Even though it is linked to in the Ukele topic, I want to give this some special attention.

It is an interview by Rolling Stone with Tom Petty about George, and his has some beautiful little stories about the Uke, Dylan, Wilburies

like a quote from George: "Dylan makes Shakespeare look like Billy Joel."

Or about something we have recently been discusing here:

Q "It doesn't really sound like he was the quiet one."

Tom " he never shut up. George had a lot to say. Boy, did he have a lot to say. That's hysterical to me, you know, that he was known as the quiet one."

This is also nice, since I am sometimes accused of being cynical (which is verry true graemlins/laugh5.gif )

Tom: "Let's be honest. There was Cranky George, and he could be very cynical at times. He would always be the first to nail himself as being too cynical, but he was quite funny when he was really cynical."

Tom Petty I dig much. He seems a nice guy, and a good friend to George.

"Little Bengali waiters in Indian restaurants still come up to me and say, "When we were fighting in the jungle, it was so great to know there was someone out there supporting us." ""
