Hot off our newswire..
"The guitar played at the Beatles' last concert in 1969 brought almost a half-million dollars in a Hollywood auction. The instrument was used by George Harrison during the making of the film, "Let It Be." He also played it when the Fab Four did a gig on the roof of Apple Records in London, January 30, 1969, the last time the group played together. Bill Miller of Odyssey Auctions in Corona, California noted it was a live auction, but also one conducted on e-Bay, online. The guitar that brought $430 thousand is a custom-made Fender Rosewood Telecaster model. The winning bidder is a collector on the West Coast who asked to remain anonymous."

Here is a very slightly lengthier article about this. Still doesn't say anything about the winning bidder, though.

Harrison Guitar Nets $400,000 at Auction
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A guitar played by the late George Harrison during the Beatles' last public performance was sold for $434,750 in a public auction.
Harrison played the custom-made Fender Rosewood Telecaster during the filming of the movie "Let It Be," said Bill Miller, president of Odyssey Auctions, the California auction house that conducted the sale Saturday. The Jan. 30, 1969, performance on the roof of London's Apple Records was the last time the band performed together in public, Miller said.
The winning bidder was an "anonymous West Coast collector," the auction house said.
Harrison, 58, died of cancer Nov. 29, 2001.
The sale was part of a two-day auction of entertainment and pop culture memorabilia.

I can't imagine ever selling something as beautiful and precious as one of George's guitars, especially if he had given it to me personally!
