While I was watching my tape of the Solo Beatles on VH-1's 8-Track Flashback (to see George's Blow Away) a commerecial came on of VH-1's Archives. It was an old(1970's) Dick Cavett show with George on it.(I'll never know why I didn't tape it). I know my tape was from 1997 but I got to thinking about that show. It's a shame they didn't show it in their tributes to George after his death. Did anyone see that episode of Dick Cavett?

I was very frustrated by the very predictable tributes that I saw. Some people can never see him beyond the Beatles where to be honest I don't think he was presented to his full advantage. Like a good wine he improved with age. At the first anniversary of his death I saw not one tribute. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places.

Yeah, I was dismayed by the dearth of tributes to George.

And Moon, you are right. Like wine, he just kept getting better all the time. I will always love George.

Example from memory:
George- "I saw him (John) last night..."
DC- "What did you say to him?"
George- "I said 'Hi'"
DC- "And what did he say?"
George- "He said 'Hi'"

Poor Dick was trying to get the interview going and George just wouldn't give in to it.

I love the Dick Cavett interview! It is one of my favorites! George is such a smartaleck, but that's why we love him, too!!

Here is a Link...you can order this (and many more) videos from these folks. They are SO NICE too, which makes it even better. When I won from them on ebay, they thought the bid went too high, so they discounted it, and then sent me another (free) video! So sweet.

Thanks for the info Hari's Chick!

The Frost show was a total delight. He played
the sitar, and he brought on David Bromberg as
a special guest. They then proceeded to play
"The Holdup" which George co-wrote and shows his
usual sense of humor. I would like to have it
on tape as I only saw the original airing!

Sorry for being a spaceshot! I just realized the
topic was the Dick Cavett show, which I was able to tape from VH-1. I enjoyed it and finally got
to see it in color!

I saw Dick Cavett on the Fox News Channel the day George passed. He still looked the same from all the videos I've seen. He said that we should thank the tobacco industry for this day. I was really in shock that day. images/icons/frown.gif

Bless you, HC for posting that link! I LOVED George on the 1971 interview with Dick Cavett! Yeah, his flip quips made him all the more lovable and of course, so GEORGE! Yeah, I thought it was George who more or less conducted that interview the way he wanted it!

I want that dvd/tape!
